  1. Past hour
  2. My old bass I believe, if I can sell my Spector Q4 this may be coming home Andy.
  3. It was probably Fender 😂 Very sad to hear this about G&L. I've always loved their instruments though the relative scarcity of them outside of America and Japan meant that I'd never ended up owning one. I do hope that Fender could buy them and keep them going as a sub-brand, out of respect for the company that Leo had built, but I don't think the shareholders will go for that. A lot of skilled workers will suffer in this.

  5. Reports of workers laid off... rumours of a Fender buy out which would be ironic. Shame if true - lovely basses. Sign of the times I guess?
  6. Exactly the wear is perfection, worth every penny and tells such a story! Such a beauty of an instrument!
  7. Take a look at his builds, unsurprisingly on the Builds Thread. Here's my two...
  8. Been looking at a second amp head as a back up or alternative flavour to my MarkBass LM4 I thought more about it and decided to buy a pre amp pedal Di instead ! To me I can use it with my LM4 or as a back up to a PA in the event of amp failure Any others gone this route instead of a second amp ? I’ve got a secondhand Ampeg SCR-DI coming my way ( didn’t need the features of the newer model ) and this will give me different tones and a back up device if needed. Cost me around £100
  9. We get proper excited about this stuff.
  10. Now that's a good idea. I think I'll stick Pandora and cans in my bag. @scrumpymike, is your paypal ID the same as last year?
  11. WOW, that's a lot of responses, and with links I'll follow up now. Does @Jabba_the_gut have a website?
  12. It's usually advisable to roll off some of the volume on the neck pickup to about 3/4, with the bridge on full volume. Yes, the 1998 is pre-standard fitment of the "Vintage Circuit" push/pull, though a few people did modify their basses with the circuit. Your new toy should sound full bodied and lovely. Enjoy, it's a lovely looking machine.
  13. This is a lovely compressor with a really useful tilt EQ, which is great to tweak your sound to the room. Includes original box, price includes UK shipping.

  14. My favourite compressor. So simple to use and get great results that even a luddite like me can use it. Price includes UK shipping.
  15. This is my favourite bass drive pedal, but I just got an Anagram so needs to go. It's a Rat based pedal, designed to emulated Justin Chancellor's tone. Comes with original box, price includes UK shipping.

  16. Like others, I've used the free OnSong for many years and it works just fine for me. You can download songs from other sources although sometimes some downloads don't allow the ability to transpose. Our church has a shared library of songs on DropBox which you can download into OnSong from.
  17. I’d quite like this bass, but fear that it’ll always be making snide comments to me like “you ain’t half as good as my ex” 😬
  18. Gibson seem to be on a bit of a path to redemption in that department. They're doing well with Mesa/Boogie, they've resurrected Tobias, and, by all accounts, the new instruments are excellent, and they have apparently addressed a lot of their QC issues recently. Having said that, I still can't see it happening.
  19. That’s definitely good enough, and helpful, as a decent tech will do the wiring diagram themselves and discuss options/possibilities etc. 👍
  20. Yeah, most of the time I use the Nøjs side as a clean boost or overdrive to due bluesey stuff, or saturate other pedals. I rarely set the GAIN knob over 12 o'clock if I only use this pedal alone, the fuzz is arguably very cool, but doesn't really match the stuff I want to play. I haven't tried comparing the tones, but when I tested it out of the box it was on Guitar setting and then I remembered about the switch and set it to Bass. The only thing I *think* I noticed was that the low E was tracked *slightly* worse with Guitar, but I may be wrong. I wanted to test this again, but I keep forgetting.
  21. Even if I could get past the hideous headstock, the string spacing is a non starter for me.
  22. Such maturity! I salute it.
  23. In the unlikely event that someone is interested, I make a headphone amp designed to go onboard a bass. It even has a stereo Aux In to play along stuff: https://www.jtex.ca/products/headamp I also make an onboard compressor (!) that can directly drive headphones to a decent practice level (unofficially): https://www.jtex.ca/products/okc I'm in Canada, but currently offer free international shipping as a middle finger to the USA tariffs (I don't ship there anymore).
  24. Here’s something we haven’t considered, Gibson take over G&L and then they have a competing brand to Fender. Given Gibson’e history with annexing other brands, maybe not a good thing.
