This one on eBay is inviting offers for his 78 P bass. I wouldn't know where to start putting right what ever the hell he's done to the paint job. Apart from that, I dunno. Its got an old Badass, which I think is pretty cool, but apart from that there might be a decent bass in there, even if it currently looks like a dog's dinner. It's not silly money, but still too much for the condition (to me): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/267360313595?mkevt=1&mkpid=2&emsid=e90001.m161799.l174482&plmtId=700008&mesgId=3015&mkcid=8&ch=osgood&bu=43398990830&trkId=047e9bb3-4020-33a3-9807-5e8107c4e99f&cnvId=700003&recoId=267360313595&recoPos=1

Most of the deaf guitarists I know are in denial. They wouldn't acknowledge they have a problem if you paid them. A couple are wearing hearing aids as well. Their hearing is obviously shot they're still playing way too loud.

Hi kiat, more than happy to give advice but not really any need for me to travel to Bass Bashes out of area because a) one a year is enough and b) people tell me that I have the best in the country on my doorstep. (Sorry if that sounds immodest, it's not meant to 🙂). My best suggestion would be for you to come along to ours. That will tell you all you need to know. Otherwise, just jump on at the bottom of the learning curve in the way you've already suggested. I'd say you need between 10 and 20 attendees bringing lots of gear to qualify as an 'event' rather than just a few mates getting together for a chat. However, you may need to start small before you can get bigger. From memory though, our first Bash in 2017 was very well attended and that's been the case ever since except for the pandemic year. We've found that presentations like our amp and cab shoot-outs and diy cab-build workshops have generated a lot of interest but you need people who have the knowledge and know how to present it. The other big seller for ours is all-day catering laid on by Mrs. Scrumpy and the Scrumpettes. That part of it is damned hard work by an excellent cook for a couple of days though.

Nice one. Learn to love it. It’ll pay you back in spades.

It looks incredible. I've noodled on a few in between Bass Direct and BassBros and think they're incredible. The unfortunate thing (for me at least) is I don't get on with Bart pickups. I know what you mean about the string spacing. My Fender Player Plus Jazz V has 19mm spacing and when I tried its newer replacement I could feel it even though we're talking a fraction of a millimetre.

Do you own a footer to put it next to? It might be the size of the knobs they used, but it looks even wider (but a bit shorter) than the Moog. Making it wider is a bit of a p11s take really because they were obscene to start with. I still can't believe I used to gig with 5 of them (and a Moog MP-201). That Black Pearl looks tasty though!

Spot prizes…? Only two I can remember at this remove are…The first person to the stage with: a wooden cigarette lighter a pair of stockings/tights over their arm (round their neck if the crowd weren’t pensioners and/or on the larger side 🤣)

Quick and dirty Fuzzdog kit from a couple of evenings ago, not my finest work, but probably the quickest I’ve done. Mr Creosote (Phat Phuk B clone). Bodged the germanium a little (socketed and legs cut too short), but it works fine after a mild breakdown about the LED not working. Will swap the germanium at some point so it’s more solid in the sockets, but yeah, sounds nice. Si

What would sort it out - but they won't do it - is to go and book a hearing test. These are easily available on the high street. Then they might understand that they've got a problem, or will have one soon... That would determine frequency range and sensitivity.

Wow! First time in over 10 years that I've managed to start a new Feedback thread. Steve is excellent company, with tales to tell. A pint with him at The Porcupine went by very fast ... I left with his cash, he left with my Alusonic bass cab. It's never too late to start learning double bass.
