  2. If it helps, Andertons sell boxes for posting and it comes with packaging as well
  3. Haha, yes, oops, just looked at the video . I'm a guitar player, so this was natural 😉
  4. Great Job, enjoy!! I agree the black looks best.
  5. My Dansette played one side of the stereo image much louder than the other. Because I rarely listened to my records on other peoples systems, the only time I could tell it was making an obvious difference to the sound was on 60s recordings that had stereo mixes with the vocals panned to the quiet side of the stereo image. For everything else I was perfectly happy with what I could hear (or not) because I didn't know any different. When I finally get a system that played both sides of the stereo image at the correct volume I found that lots of my records had additional instruments quite prominently in the mix that I had not been aware of previously, and IMO the addition of these instruments did not always improve the recordings.
  6. Plastic Factory - Captain Beefheart
  7. @Twigman Currently in the process of proving ownership, so 🤞
  8. You can hear those strings on a couple of the SoundCloud links above...
  9. And fit the strings properly at the tuners. 😂 Nice looking bass. Mine didn't have the adjustment pot on the pre-amp block plus it was all black silicone compound. Dave
  10. Would be nice to hear the 'important' strings i.e. the B E &D!!
  11. I thought ECM stood for Electronic Counter-Measures........I'll get me coat.
  12. I could be persuaded to try the Origin Effects SVT preamp?
  13. I am popping this back up for sale, as I've decided I prefer headed basses, with a very skinny nut. The funds will go towards a headed fretless 6 string ACG to compliment my recently acquired ACG fretted 6er, therefore no trades please. Here we have an immaculate ACG Krell SC E Type, a stunning example of ACG's work. This is a 6 string, tuned B to C, headless, set-neck construction. The scale length is 31.5" and the playability is incredible, the low B is musical and lacks nothing compared to long scale basses. As you will see from the design at the "head end", the strings are held in with grub screws so you can use any strings you want, you are not tied to double ball end strings. This is probably the most beautiful bass I have ever owned, and probably ever will, but sadly needs must. Official listing on the ACG site here >> https://acguitars.co.uk/project/0288-krell-e-type-fretless-6-31-5/ Here's a video of some noodles >> Specs as follows >> Top Wood: Fractal Birch Body Core: White Limba, 55mm thick and Chambered Accent: Purpleheart Body Finish: Satin Lacquer Neck: 3-piece Purpleheart/Wenge with asymmetrical profile Fingerboard: Mac Ebony with Pearwood fretlines at 1/3/5etc Purpleheart in the rest and flat/zero radius Scale: 31.5″ Neck Finish: Satin Lacquer Pickups: ACG FB pickups (stacked sidewinder style humbuckers, wired in parallel, hand wound by Aaron Armstrong) Hardware: ETS tuning/Bridge unit, ACG Headpiece, Dunlop Dual Design Straplocks La Bella RX Nickel Strings (30-130) Pre-amp: ACG DFM 4K (This is the full fat flagship ACG filter preamp) Nut width: 54mm Bridge Spacing: 16.5mm The bass comes with a top of the range Fusion F1 guitar sized gigbag, also in mint condition and a perfect fit, these things retail over £200 and are comparible to the top of the range Mono bags The bass is in perfect condition, never been gigged, home use only. Price is £1900 ono, no trades please. I am selling a 6 string headless ACG in another ad, and I would be willing to do a deal on these as a pair. UK only, but will consider an EU based sale. 14. Bargain price for a great Pedal. Shame I already have one!
  15. Ah, great, thx ! Here are 2 pictures. It still works, I borrowed the bass a few years back also and noticed the output level was very low with a level of hiss which is nowadays not necessary. But I played live in a big band, so was manage-able. I'm borrowing it again now for recording, but the hiss is getting in the way. As you can't EQ the thing because of it, almost no high frequencies in the sound. Possibly the age of the pots also. There's a little pot on the block which you can turn, the level increases, but the hiss also, and the sound changes, not for the good. I already ordered new active MEC pickups and BEC-2 electronics. After 40 years, badly needed. I'm doing something back for borrowing !
  16. So has the rightful owner of this bass got it back yet?
  17. I am popping this back up for sale, as I've decided I prefer headed basses, with skinny nut. The funds will go towards a headed fretless 6 string ACG to compliment my recently acquired ACG fretted 6er, therefore no trades please. Here we have an immaculate ACG Salace E Type. This is a 6 string, tuned B to C, headless, bolt-on construction. The scale length is 31.5" and the playability is incredible, the low B is musical and lacks nothing compared to long scale basses. As you will see from the design at the "head end", the strings are held in with grub screws so you can use any strings you want, you are not tied to double ball end strings. The bass is very lightweight for a 6er, I would in the 8 lbs range. The design is super ergonomic both seated and standing, but without looking like one of those weird ergo basses Official listing on the ACG site here >> https://acguitars.co.uk/project/0211-salace-e-type-headless-6-31-5/ You can also here some sound samples here >> And finally, a video of some noodles here >> Specs as follows >> Top Wood: Flame Koa Back Wood: Mahogany Body Core: Spruce Accent Veneer: Black Body Finish: Satin Lacquer Neck: 3-piece American Ash with slim asymmetrical profile Fingerboard: Cocobolo with flat/zero radius Scale: 31.5″ Back Plate: Koa Neck Finish: Satin Laquer Pickups: 2 x ACG FB (stacked sidewinder style humbuckers, wired in series, hand wound by Aaron Armstrong) Hardware: ETS tuning unit and bridge, ACG Custom Headpiece, Dunlop Dual Design Straplocks, ACG/Newton Custom Nickel Strings (28-125TW), East Low Battery Indicator Pre-amp: East Uni-Pre 4K (3 band with adjustable mids, passive tone control and active/passive switching) Nut width: 54mm Bridge Spacing: 16.5mm The bass comes with a top of the range Fusion Urban guitar sized gigbag, also in mint condition and a perfect fit, these things retail over £200 and are comparible to the top of the range Mono bags The bass is in perfect condition, never been gigged, home use only. 18. Cool! Is the magazine related to the Dutch magazine "De Bassist" and its sibling "Gitarist" in any way?
  19. My personal view - if using the Stomp with in-ears, it is definitely worth spending some time playing with the global EQ. I cut extreme low frequencies, and also quite a lot of highs (roughly 40Hz low cut and something like 6kHz high cut) which helps to reduce the 'harshness'. Spending some time to get a good seal with your IEMs is important. Looking like a pillock while pulling on your ear to insert your IEMs properly is a price worth paying, IMO. Then again, if you cared what you looked like, you'd probably be up front on vocals or guitar My experience with the Stomp is that the mic pre and Noble (Regal) models were much better for me than any of the amps/cabs/IRs, plus exploiting a parallel path so you always get 50% of the direct sound really helps with clarity. Then again, I'm a rank amateur and have spent most of my bass-playing life plugging into a DI straight into the house - so your mileage might vary. Phil
  20. WHSmiths? Not unless you happen to be an airport these days!
  21. Congratulations! I still like print. It feels wrong to read an ipad on the bog! And an ipad is just a bit too rigid for the times I run out of loo roll...😬
  22. And here's some pictures. The two cabs stack very nicely on top of each other. However they are only loosely connected through the rubber feet on the bottom and the holes in the corners. You're not going to knock them over without a push, but a drunken punter would easily push them down. The bottom one looks nicer than the top one as it's all black (IMO). I may retrofit the black corners onto the top one. The top one happens to have a Mod Dwarf on it and without that, would be the perfect place to place a pint. Still got to do a grill for the bottom one. Side angle and the rear. The handles are great., Easy to carry the whole cab with just one of them. And from the rear I'm quite pleased with how they have turned out. Even better when I can change the top Speakon panel and remove the gaskets. Work has got in the way all day today. Rob
  23. Hi all… fired up my GK MB head last night. Lack of usual full range bassy goodness, noisy artifacts, lack of definition etc. basically, “some sound missing”. After plugging direct into head with known good jack lead, problem still there. Master volume knob was very crackly upon turning… so I muted the amp and gave it many a clockwise and anti turn until (I guess) the dirt in the pot shifted out of the audio path - normal sound restored. So, please, your wisdom: 1) does above sound feasible 2) Strikes me the issue will come back, no? 3) I guess squirting with proper contact cleaner likely causes more issues than solves? Thanks!
  24. Absolutely - if you buy online you get a lot of protections that you don't have in a shop, regardless of price.
