  1. Past hour
  2. That’s pretty much what I bought it for! I’m certainly on the look out for another (lighter) one; the quality to price ratio is insane.
  3. High Fade-tastic! 😎
  4. As new Crown power amp and case. The amp is as new, only used a couple of times in the house. The case was bought at the same time and apart from a Rush sticker and a mark on the front where there was a product sticker it too is as new. 5. Hi Do you have a picture of the neck plate as well?🙂
  6. Did a fund raiser for the local tennis club last night, it was interesting….id originally volunteered to play bass in a 70s covers set but ended up playing in a Lizzy tribute, Dr Feelgood tribute, and a 70s glam thing as well. But of a work out but thoroughly enjoyable. It was a pleasure to meet Alan Jones, Shadows bass player who played on a Shadows tribute - really nice guy and awesome talent. He used my MarkBass set up and he had loads of stories from his time in the industry. A more normal night out in Sheffield with Glam Viva! tonight.
  7. IEMs have a different job than earplugs do. A perfect seal isn't required to hear something, but it is necessary to reliability reduce sound pressure levels. Some brands, like Alpine, have pro shops where they can measure if your protectors are seating properly.
  8. ah ha, good shout. I've just taken the guard off to have a look. There's nothing on the pots which indicates the values, just a manufacturer from Korea. The cap is standard 0.047uf. I've had a root in the bits box and found a P bass loom I pulled out of a late 70's P bass. It's not an original, it was a replacement in that bass, but they are newish Dunlop pots, 250k, cloth covered wire, and a Sprague Orange Drop 0.047uf cap. I'll drop that in and see if it makes a difference. Thankfully I also have some new flat top chrome knobs which fits these pots. It sometimes helps to be a hoarder! Rob
  9. ...and you could do your back in bending down? 🙂
  10. Note: if you do a stacked tone pot and connect the caps to the blend pickup-side connections you could have independent tone controls.
  11. The line with the S-1 switches were known as the American Series range. They ran (I think) from 2000 to 2007 and the line was revamped LESS the switch in 2008 (American Standard).
  12. So, Gibson & Rickenbacker basses have "non-standard" scale lengths. And most other basses are derived from Fenders. 🙂
  13. Yeah I had the Hohner quite a few years back... I am hoping for an Aria SB to appear for the right price or even an old headless Status
  14. I'm also a very minimalist player with a passive Serek bass into a Caveman BP-1 and straight into the PA. Just a small tweak to the eq and that's it. All my sound comes from the bass and my fingers. Sometimes I might get exotic and add a little reverb and chorus to fill out the sound.
  15. Just to play devil’s advocate, I read all this about replacement when I got my IEMs, which is now just over 4 years ago, can’t say mine feel any different today than they did when I got them, still fit perfectly.
  16. The cv is far cheaper - having tried both I wouldn’t say there’s an awful lot in it
  17. I'm looking to buy another Jazz bass and the 2 candidates (the only candidates) are first version of the Fender Vintera 60s Jazz or the Squier CV 60s Jazz. I'd just be interested in opinions on either, especially what the necks are like. Thanks
  18. Today
  19. Many thanks both of you. It occurs to me that if I'd actually opened the box that my SD QPs came in the other day I'd probably find that wiring diagram inside !! It's all based on a sunburst Squier body. I bought the whole working bass but everything will go bar the body and what I can use of the electrics. Even the aged cream pick guard is new - 4 quid off Temu !! I wanted a jazz neck so the P neck and hardware is on eBay now. Rest to follow.
  20. When I went DI it took a few sessions to get used to not having the sound behind me, and not having instant access to change that sound. It took a while longer to tune the pre-amp I was using to work through the PA speakers. At about the same time I went to a rudimentary IEM system using a Behringer P1 wired to the desk and £10 Sony earbuds (I wanted to get a feel before investing in wireless). Although it was the cheap end of the market, I could see the potential and I liked the control over the volume in my ears - if nothing else the earbuds gave me some protection from the onstage volume. The big difference came when I was singing BVs - even with the cheap set up I could hear my voice much clearer than when using floor monitors and it gave me more confidence to harmonise. With IEM it took a while to get used to the isolation, and since our singer often talks to the band off mic between songs, I usually have one earpiece more loosely fitted so I can hear him.
  21. The Blossoms, Stockport. Great little venue. Leaf is the promoter, not the new name of the band. Our smallest setup due to the size of the place, so just the ABM500 combo, but it sounded pretty good, although I could’ve done with raising it up a bit. The P bass was great, a bit zingy with new strings, but very happy with it. Cool little gig.
  22. 2 fried chickens??? Elwood!!!
  23. Thats my reasoning, I will happily carry a stupidly heavy tube amp and pair it with a Barefaced 610 or 310 which in my mind equals things out. Plus the sound is worth the carry
  24. Find the biggest guy in the band and fight him... Oh wait, that's prison isn't it? ● Constantly play slap bass, regardless of song ● Be at least 4 times louder than guitarist ● Stand directly in front of singers mic ● Break wind ceaselessly ● Wear sandals with white socks ● Tell everyone you're a vegan, then chomp into a whole rotisserie chicken - 2 if possible ● Arrange a group hug, but don't take part Good luck, you shall be great!
  25. I put my amp sideways beside the cab. There's no need to lift the amp.
  26. 250k or 500k type MN from Bourns. https://bourns.com/products/proaudio/products
