Audition - the day of reckoning

I had an audtion two weeks ago with a band that were several leagues above anything I've done before. I didn't play well but did enough to get a second bite today - and I'm actually nervous. It's not like me at all, usually I couldn't give a toss but I really really want to get into this band.

Wish me luck :)

Luck doesn't come into it dude, it'll be all those hours of practice, gigging and talking bass with us BCers that'll do it. Just enjoy, don't worry about the outcome, no point, just reduces the quality of your playing.

PS good luck :)

Good luck dude.
Remember we normally feel compelled to play waaaaay more than we should.
Relax and make your life easier.
What works for me is: I have slightly more volume on the amp and I think "small": small hand movements, small playing.
This helps me not to overplay and to have a better control on my muscles.
Remember to breathe :-)

Hi Alan, all sportsmen warm up before a race and major bands warm up before a gig so don't go in cold. Before the audition I'd spend several hours (at least 2) playing and practising to get yourself warmed up and get your brain and ear to hand coordination into gear. Good luck.

Edit: .... and if possible remember to lock in with the drummer.
