One of my favourite basses at the SWBB. I can second that. It was a fantastic bass. Not just to look at, but to play as well. 1 Quote
neepheid Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Right, I have managed to narrow down my bass list from 15 to 10 based upon which ones didn't get much love at the SWBB. I've got a few definites, but I'd still like to chop 2-4 more. So here are the ones in the remaining 10 which I'm considering leaving behind - tell me if there are any you'd really like to see from these four: Epiphone Jack Casady (20th Anniversary) - everyone knows what these are, right? G&L CLF L-1000 - because of G&L's demise being fresh in people's minds, is it just morbid curiosity now? Yamaha BB1200 - OG neck thru BB Yammy goodness - but maybe just too dependable to be interesting? Epiphone Thunderbird Classic IV Pro - take two Epiphone Thunderbirds into the shower bash? Register your exception to any of these being left behind (or don't) below... What is definitely coming: Epiphone Les Paul Standard bass (Paul 1) Burny (Fernandes) LSB-80 (Paul 2) Greco LPB-700 (Paul 3) Epiphone Thunderbird '64 (purple sparkle) DeArmond Jet Star Spel (with added Peavey T-40 pickup) Neep One 2 Quote
Geek99 Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago (edited) Youre a martyr and a true inspiration to all who aspire to personal purity quite like the idea of the neep one and the les Paul (bass obviously, not the weedy kind) 🤮 Edited 23 hours ago by Geek99 Quote
NancyJohnson Posted 23 hours ago Author Posted 23 hours ago If at all possible, if anyone has a 12-string bass they're prepared to bring along, I'd love to see how my XB Driver handles it. Quote

I've got a Warwick which needs the intonation adjusting but am scared of German reverse screw threads if you fancy having a look? Quote

I have an aging Manson fretless where the action was too high and the truss rod adjusted about as much as it could be (in my limited knowledge). A suggestion was to put low tension strings on, which was a great idea, but now I can’t seem to get any relief at the 5th fret - really buzzy. Quote

Basic set-ups are very easy (by basic, I'm saying truss rod adjustment, intonation etc ) and a small amount of tickling only takes a few minutes. Assuming the above actions go without any problem, you may be opening yourself up to additional problems. Quote

One of the tuners is now a tad askew, but it could also do with a tweak to make it easier to play. Quote

Bring it along. I'll have one of the best guitar techs in the UK with me on the day, so it'll be in safe hands. 1 Quote
cetera Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago The 2 x Paul's (@NancyJohnson & @prowla) and I convened for a lovely curry last night..... and, as Nancy says... it was indeed a windy night Just had confirmation that Chris Childs (Thunder etc) will be a special guest and will do a Q&A, short career chat and demo at around 2pm on the day. We're also working on another guest or two (subject to their availability) as well as some fun stuff... 2 1 Quote

That's brilliant: I had the pleasure of meeting him at a bass show a while back and it'll be a privilege to have him come and talk to us! 1 Quote

Chris is a top bloke and a very tasty player. I’ve seen him with Thunder, but mostly I saw him with local legends (when I lived down south), Bad Influence, when I making the jump from the 6 string thing, to the righteous instrument. I count him as an influence because of this timing. He also has a great singing voice too. Very much the complete package - so when I say top bloke, I mean utter, utter bastard . Seriously, those attending are in for a treat. 1 Quote
