Hellzero Posted Tuesday at 20:41 Posted Tuesday at 20:41 Wow, this was THE festival of that year. Quote
prowla Posted Tuesday at 21:06 Posted Tuesday at 21:06 Brand X, 801, Colosseum II - that would've been something. Gong to send you to sleep. And then a bit of Gonzo to wake you up! Quote

prowla Posted Tuesday at 21:32 Posted Tuesday at 21:32 I did go to Knebworth in '79. Still got the T-shirt! 2 Quote

Beedster Posted yesterday at 05:59 Posted yesterday at 05:59 Love how far down AC/DC are Does remind me just how different going to gigs was back then, the whole process was very calm and stress free 👍 Quote
Owen Posted yesterday at 08:30 Posted yesterday at 08:30 (edited) I saw Rory Gallagher. I suspect he has an element of responsibility for my tinnitus. Wow, he was loud. See also SRV. Edited yesterday at 10:13 by Owen due to being too lazy to proofread it originally. 4 Quote

Terry M. Posted yesterday at 09:13 Posted yesterday at 09:13 Had no idea Phil Collins was so jazzy/funky on drums until I started listening to Brand X.So sad to see his current physical condition. 1 Quote

I'd love someone to go back and remix all those 80's etc songs so the drum tracks actually sound like real drums again. I'm sure it would improve every track. 1 Quote
Phil Starr Posted yesterday at 10:17 Posted yesterday at 10:17 (edited) Reading 1976 I went and saw Rory play there in 71. It pissed with rain and the Richfield Avenue site had not long been earthed over. All the rain and that many people meant we broke through the surface to the refuse dumped below. I can remember the smell now. I found a plastic bag which had covered a mattress to shelter in. The next week I was pictured on the front page of the Morning Star under the title 500 Hippies arrested what looked like drug crazed dancing was me fighting to keep the bag over my head. Very judgemental those communists Edited yesterday at 10:17 by Phil Starr 10 Quote

He's considerably better known as a drummer than some serious titans of percussion; I'll bet if you asked 100 folks to name 5 drummers he'd be in there, but the likes of Dennis Chambers, Billy Cobham, Grant Calvin Weston, Jojo Mayer, Jerome "Bigfoot" Brailey, Jabbo Sparks, Clyde Stubblefield or Omar Hakim wouldn't get a single mention! Rich Posted yesterday at 11:48 Posted yesterday at 11:48 Better known, yes... but he's not generally credited with the level of talent he has. 1 Quote

It's not a pissing contest; PC had many talents, and his drumming prowess has not, in general, the recognition it merited. Yes, there are other fine drummers; his talent removes nothing from the others. 2 Quote
Leonard Smalls Posted yesterday at 11:56 Posted yesterday at 11:56 1 minute ago, Rich said: he's not generally credited with the level of talent he has He's a decent drummer, to be sure... But the ones I mentioned are probably at least as good as Mr. C, probably a lot better in some cases, and completely unknown outside of serious muso circles. So they're the ones who are the most under-rated in the history of history! Quote

I think this depends on the age-range of the individuals asked. Similar is George Benson. How many people know the jazz guitar giant he is versus the 80s pop singing chart topper? 1 Quote
