Printed the label Evri emailed me, attached it and took it to two of Evri’s recommended return shops. Both times the very patient staff scanned the bar code over and over again but with no luck. In both instances they tried a number of different approaches to registering the return, even confirming that the email and instructions I showed them were correct. I took it another shop this morning by way of a last resort. Again, no joy. I did the mandatory “Evri chance it’ll get lost anyway” jibe at the top of my voice as I took back off the member of staff. To my surprise a fella behind me said “I’m an Evri driver, let me see if I can help?” We went outside to his van, he took out his scanning device and it registered without an issue. He took my parcel, and issued me with a receipt and a card with his name and contact number on. I checked my emails and there it was, registered as collected and on its way to the depot. Look, it may never see the light of day again, but I have to say that the courier couldn’t have been more helpful and at least I do have some evidence of the return being in the system so have a chance of a refund. I’m pretty sure that he went against Evri policy, so this isn’t necessarily a shout to the company, and no it’s not a £25,000 Wal that’s gone missing, more a nice story…. as you were… 15 Quote

Nice that the guy helped in this case, but he shouldn't have to, if anyone in that f***ing useless business gave a f*** about ensuring their systems actually work you wouldn't have had to dick about in the first place 4 Quote

By not implementing any corporate branding, uniform or vehicles, your entire perception of the company comes down to your local gig-economy delivery driver. Any complaint you might have becomes a drop in the ocean, because some halfwit will chime in with "our local driver is ded gud and always stops for a natter". I never ship anything with them and get nervous if anybody sends stuff with them. Quote

My point is, most major couriers have a brand identity. Evri is anonymous and exploits gig-economy workers. They've become large and powerful partly through this anonymity, and through paying workers peanuts and setting them hellish delivery schedules. Any time I've seen people voice a genuine grievance with them over missing parcels, damaged goods etc on Facebook it met with comments about how (usually a different driver) is good. Therefore Evri is good as this is their only point of reference. 1 Quote

lemmywinks Posted yesterday at 08:12 Posted yesterday at 08:12 (edited) Even if you have a good local driver this may be fleeting, they have a pretty high turnover of staff due to working conditions and pay. Your next one (or substitute driver when the regular guy takes time off) might be like the driver who nicked my Sonicake pedal and threw my Shimano front chainring and Tonerider pickup over the fence of a completely different house so they sat outside in the rain for a couple of days. The company is trash and noting that some of their staff try to paper over these very deliberate cracks does not benefit anyone not working in Evri's upper management. She will always wave us down and let us know whether she has anything for us and if she has, roughly what time she will make it to our house. A truly lovely human being. 2 Quote

I've had that too. I get the email/barcode up on my phone, and get them to scan that. It's always worked for me. Quote
