I play stuff by others often enough, but, if asked (would that there was anyone to ask, of course ...), I'd certainly say where the line or tune came from ('it's a lick I've adapted from Jack Casady', or 'It's my version of 'Dark Star'...). Copying is not a problem in itself; it's when one claims the originality for oneself that it becomes reprehensible. 2 Quote
