I don't know (of the ...) bloke, but it would appear that the issue is not so much his playing of other folk's stuff, as not giving credit to them, claiming it as his own. I play stuff by others often enough, but, if asked (would that there was anyone to ask, of course :$...), I'd certainly say where the line or tune came from ('it's a lick I've adapted from Jack Casady', or 'It's my version of 'Dark Star'...). Copying is not a problem in itself; it's when one claims the originality for oneself that it becomes reprehensible. B|

I think it’s more that he’s making money from it, which is morally wrong.

Aren't the stolen bits just the originals, then, run through some electronics? To which he mimics - sometimes badly?
Must admit I haven't listened closely at all, but that was my initial impression.
