NickA Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Dolphins are special. Took mine out gigging last night and realised I play my Wal a bit too much. Lovely neck, excellent ergonomics and a sound that's clear as a bell. Indicating once again that there is no ONE dream bass. 2 Quote
HowieD72 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago My two dream basses are already in my possession. My custom 1994 Warwick Fortress Masterman and my parts p-bass. 80's Barts, Lollar harness with treble bleed and wenge jazz neck. 2 Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) I should be in a position to purchase my dream bass this year ( well nothing more than £3k if I can help it !). But what ?? Custom ? Well letts just say I’d rather avoid the uncertainty ! The ‘dream bass’ I used to think of was something like a status s2 in a lovely glossy colour , or old Steinberger trans term , or a Kubricki ex factor in a lairy colour . It seems like I’ve missed the boat on Sims custom paint job for my table top style Warwick corvette . I did think of having an animal shaped bass guitar body such as a dog , cat or rabbit 😬 I like the Warwick dolphin .. a headless style would be the one I think ..glossy airbrushed in the style of a polar bear ! As for electronics , just a passive volume bass and tone knob is enough ! No batteries ! I do have 2 basses that friends and punters used to love ..a Korean made Jack Daniel’s bass ,and a Washburn status . For some reason people were fascinated by them . jazzyvee Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Thankfully i managed to find and afford my two dream basses some years back. Short scale 4 string and long scale 5 string. So whilst I may lust after others it is unlikely than any more new bass guitars will cross my doorstep. Though a double bass might get through. Quote
kwmlondon Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Dream bass? Blimey, well, I lust after a 5 string Precision and I’d love one of those Rickenbacker 5 strings they made for a while. A Wal just because they are so iconic. Part of me would love an early 70s Jazz but I’d never play it. I did see someone had made a Dingwall Combustion with a custom body fitted with those Simms type pickups and Luthisand preamp so kind of a DingWal and that should be out of this world. But last year I took receipt of my own Canadian Dingwall made to my requirements and that is my dream bass Quote
itu Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Vigier Passion with: - carbon neck - 5 string wide neck (the same spacing as the 4) - 4 string size body - lightweight (as I already own a 4 string Passion, double these with Delta metal fretlesses) Quote
12stringbassist Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago It always has been and always will be one of these... 1 Quote
Reggaebass Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Pretty close to one of my dream basses is for sale at the moment with ATB guitars, even though it’s reduced its still a bit pricey for me 1 Quote
