As a longtime Spector endorsee and collector I have always wanted to see a mid-price Euro version of their custom USA-X (Spectorbird) model....

So, using my contacts and linking up with UK retailer Bass Direct we organised a special limited custom run (less than 25) of just that!

Ā

After a 9 month wait they have just arrived. Black, white, tobaccoburst flame and an amazing ultraviolet quilt! Equipped with EMG pickups, Tonepump preamp & gold hardware, they have turned out amazingly well....Ā  I'm so pleased šŸ„°šŸ˜Ž

Ā

Thanks to Bass Direct for their assistance and here's to our next custom build!

Oooh!

Ā

Pictures in a moment or two.Ā  First impressions, lovely chunky neck.Ā  Finish is lovely.Ā  Everything works, although I've swapped out the strap buttons to Dunlop Straploks.Ā  Set up is wonderful; very low action straight out of the box.Ā  Happy to say it fits the Tourtech ABS cases I have, so I'll pull the trigger on another one of these on payday.

Ā

Output is superhot; on Gary's guidance I've reduced the Tonepump output to 35-40%.Ā  I'm just trying to limit what I'm taking to rehearsals/gigs, so am determined to get a decent tone out of the AO900.

Ā

Belter!

Arriving at 8.30am this morning and weighing in at exactly 9lbs, here is my Ultra Violet Spectorbird Euro X.

I can't decide whether I like the back or the front better.

It's actually somewhere between Ian Hill and a normal Euro LX.

How's the neck-dive on these?

Reasonable. It dives, but not as bad as a TBird. Nothing a good grippy strap won't sort...

Massive thanks to @ceteraĀ for banging the drum, setting this up and pushing through the production of these basses.

Ā

Here are my two - awesome basses that look great and sound great.

Weight is a nice surprise to at approx 9lbs each.

It’s great that we have someone on BC that has this kind of influence, well done again, Ā @cetera.

Ā

I love the reverse bird design to look at (even Firebirds!) but the ergonomics don’t work for me sadly :(Ā . Just as well, that red cherry one is šŸ˜.
