World's best tribute band

I know some of you guys play in tribute bands, but I wondered how many of you have seen a band called the Dutch Eagles. I've never seen any other tribute band come as close as they do to recreating the sound of the original band. Not only do they have the music and the voices down pat, but they have the accents down too, which is rather an impressive feat as they are singing in a foreign language.

Take the s out of https for embedding.

Funny, and I'm not tribute band bashing here, but to me there is something wrong with these guys. It is almost like it is so polished and finely honed that they have sucked any life out of the performance.

I'll rephrase that, as I still can't quite put my finger on it. It is as if they are so good that you really should be seeing the Eagles standing there. and the fact that you aren't is a bit, well, wrong really!

Some people said the same about The Eagles themselves.

I have seen and heard many, but the best I have come across is Genesis tribute The Musical Box.
[/quote]Off to see The Book of Genesis tomorrow night. I've seen G2 (they're really good) and ReGenesis. Missed The Musical Box last time they were over but they're definitely on the list.

I actually didn't mind them despite my comment above. Same for The Eagles themselves

I enjoyed that. One man's 'sterile' is obviously another man's 'polished'. :)

There is a UK Eagles tribute band called Illegal Eagles. A few years ago they had a singer called Ray Brown whose voice just sent shivers down my spine. For some reason - I think it was an egocentric guitar player who felt upstaged by his talent - he departed and they now have someone fairly ordinary fronting them. Here is Ray Brown singing 'Love Ill Keep Us Alive'

A few years ago, I saw the Bootleg Beatles in Liverpool. They were terrific. They got all the stage routine down to a tee with Georges nervous mutterings in the mike to Ringos rockIng from side to side head movements.
They did an autobiographical show featuring the early Please Please Me stuff through to the Abbey Road era complete with costume changes and beards. :D

I saw an AC/DC tribute, but the name escapes me. Anyway they kicked of with the early stuff with Bon Scott, and returned after a quick break with a different singer doing Brian Johnson stuff. They wete good. I'll also second Limehouse Lizzy.

That sounds like Live Wire, who are bloody good. I'll third Limehouse Lizzy.

I don't really get 'perfect renditions' of tracks..and just as that applies to Cover's bands, it applies to Tributes as well.

Would have to see/hear it in context

The girls from the Floyd tribute do well.... not listening to the band atm...which if you were being
hyper critical, sound quite bland..?? which is the problem you get you you go for all style over
substance type gigs..?

I think I rather pay to see what makes Gilmour special rather than someone trying to just sound like Gilmour
and if that ship has sailed...then let it go.

I second Doors Alive. Saw then recently and was very impressed. Managed to conjure an atmosphere as well as a solid performance.

Agreed, I'm biased though - their keys player previously auditioned for a band of mine, and of course was offered the job because he's hugely talented. He had to turn me down eventually for a better paying gig (ie a gig that paid anything), but a couple of years later when I said I'm on the way to the Islington Academy with 5 mates to see their Christmas show, he said no problem I'll get you all on the guestlist. What a star!

Props also to bandmates from the same band who are also now vocals and guitar respectively in Supertramp trib Logicaltramp.

Let us know how it goes. Seen the others, not for a few years though. My first TMB gig was mid-90s in Atlanta, really enjoyable. Ditto years later at the Royal Albert Hall when Steve Hackett joined in for a bonus Firth Of Fifth encore.
