jimwin
Not sure about a P - but played a Les Paul bass on sorrow - looked horrible but sounded great!
skywalker
Excellent on Later Live last night.
whynot
Jumped on a last minute ticket for Albert Hall last Friday. £50 restricted view from side of stage at almost stage level. Great unrestricted view of the whole band including floor pedal action. Amazing. Guy P got through several basses, Jazz, P, including a Gibson and Lakland I thought (could be wrong). Whole band sounded amazing.
mep
+1 Great basslines and I could hear him really well through the TV speakers.

[/quote] Yeah I posted on facebook last night that he was sounding great and got a 'like' from Mark Gooday. Which was cool.
TrevorR
A chum went to see them the other night and said it was amazing. I asked him who was playing second guitar, Tim Renwick? He said, "No some other bloke, didn't recognise the name." Clearly not a Roxy Music fan then, my mate!
ezbass
Just watched the performance on Later. I liked both tracks and thought they were very un-Floyd like, in fact I thought they were decidedly Roxy Music in flavour. Guy Pratt sounded great. spectoremg
I'm in shock, Gilmour's put some new stuff out that I like! And Guy's Jazz sounded lovely.

I presume he's still using Elites on his fretted basses but anyone know what strings he uses on the fretless?
dmccombe7
I think the new album is the best since the first one. The other albums I found a bit boring and couldn't really get into.
Marvin
The performance on Later really impressed me, I'm going to have to have a listen to the new album.

LemonCello
Caught them on the half hour Jools. Something about 'locks'? thought that track was meh.
Woodinblack
Slightly different view here. I thought (as usual for Jools groups) the group was dull and the songs generic and instantly forgettable (in fact, I have forgotten them). The only reason they won't be forgotten instantly is that Dave Gilmour is in the group. However, I very much liked and was impressed by the bass playing, so it was like a good bass exercise on a generic backing track.
Davo-London
Gilmour's bassist and drummer are exceptional. I agree that the tracks on Jools were so-so. Nevertheless, you can't get bored with Gilmour - he is a master. Davo
JapanAxe
Just listened to 2 songs from the show. The bass playing was most excellent.
ivansc
Regarding Dick Parry: I`m in my seventies & so is Dick. There are limits to how long you can stay at the top of your game and have the same level of energy. 3 45`s and I am knackered these days. Am I seeing things but is the string spacing uneven? (A to D).
Davo-London
Yes I agree - I noticed that. OMG it doesn't seem to bother him. I'd be surprised if it is intentional though. It may also be recorded at a slight angle and that along with the strings following the neck curvature may equate to what looks like a bigger gap between A and D. His playing is effortless.
