It slips off the leg when playing seated because the bottom horn is too short and curves inwards. Unfortunately the builder will not change the design. [/quote] Well, I think he has! Look carefully: he's got metal around the recesses so they won't wear with string friction and he's got a clever string retainer. warwickhunt Posted April 28, 2013 Share Posted April 28, 2013 Trying to get the string wound onto the post due to the recess seems like harder work than it needs to be, the recess may have a metal bezel but the strings are still resting on the bezels and that's hardly conducive to a great design. I realise that if this is your only bass then you'd get used to which tuner does which string but the D/G tuners being the 'wrong' way around (in comparison to every other producer) seems again to be an ill thought out design. On that pics some of the tuners look angled back as per Warwick and others straight, it seems almost that it is a case of 'we'll put them where ever they fit' kind of design philosophy! [/quote] TBH while the headstock looks stunning, from a mechanical PoV, it's way over-engineered. All those recessed tuners and string retainers could be done away with simply by angling the headstock back at a sensible angle. Sometimes the simplest solutions really are the best.
