I got my new thread deleted because I didn't read up on the new stuff so then I went to make another but just decided to stop being lazy and bumped my old thread... Which was then deleted even though it hadn't broken any forum rules

I recommend PMing the moderator. We're nice.

So I had an ad that was placed BEFORE the charges came in removed, yet other people still have theirs up? Favouritism from the mods? Seems f***ing shady to me
Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the rules, they apply to everyone equally.
I have already sent you a PM regarding this and you therefore know exactly why it was removed.

Has the site not given you anything during those years? Were your 1355 posts there just for helping BC to attain a higher level of readworthiness?

In fairness to Monckyman, he has posted a lot of really valuable information about PAs and sound mixing into this forum, and I for one have found it most helpful and edifying. Hopefully the 'rethink' will include sticking around and contributing once more.

Or everyone who wants to sell on here could just pay the £20 and sleep easy in the knowledge that at least some money that may have gone to the eBay machine has instead gone to keeping the best bass site online.

i missed the announcement about fees
but i do notice a lot people shift quite a bit of gear on here so if your one of them £20 a year is nothing and the £7 one off isnt too steep i guess
would rather the fees than tonnes of adverts and pop ups all over the place

As I'm sure it has already been pointed out. Keeping this forum up and running to the standard everyone expects isn't cheap and it can't be expected that people dib into their own pockets to keep it up and running.

None of the mods get paid a bean, and don't expect to. money from the adds goes to maintain the upkeep of the forum, it's as simple as that.

What really riles me though is when certain individuals show no repect for the members that pay for their adds by trying to fee dodge, and then when they get rumbled resort to leaving childish remarks on their Twitter and facebook accounts.

I can't think of anywhere on the web where there is so much gear up for grabs

I have not yet bought or offered for sale on this forum. If I do I have absolutely NO problem paying the fee.

I have had a great time just browsing, found a lot of decent helpful information on here that has saved me money.

A lot of people spend a Lot of their own time replying to threads that are asking for help and advice. They do this for free.

I have on occasion just sent a donation of varying values because I believe it's the right thing to do

I find it really difficult to understand that anyone would complain about this, Paying £20 annual fee to advertise as much as you want, in a specialised place is DIRT CHEAP.

Get over it everyone.

I certainly agree with that hope, and do agree that his contribution is an important one.

I have no problem with fee paying, I just find it unfair that bumping my old thread from before the fees (which doesn't seem to be against the rules) led to it being deleted, whilst other members can do it without penalty

I thought you bumped, edited and added more items but AFTER the fees were introduced. But like I say, the mods know the details and I think you know very well :)

Forget about selling stuff - I've learnt a lot more about bass gear, bass playing and bass players in the three short years I've been on this forum than I have in my previous thirty-five years of bass playing... and been entertained, surprised and sometimes amazed, too. More or less on a daily basis! What's that worth, in hard cash? I would venture to suggest that it is far in excess of twenty pounds per annum! :D

We WERE going to have a £20 only option. No free ads, no single fee, like Talkbass.

By making the free option we spent a lot more money on development AND made a rod for our own (and our brilliant mods) backs in terms if policing, but we did it for you lot.

It's unfortunate that some see fit to undermine this and we can always remove the option if it gets out of hand, but you know what - it's extremely rare. Just like we knew it would be.

You're worth it ;)

Ahh right, well fair enough, although the guidelines don't explicitly state that the above isn't allowed, clarity is all that's needed.

But now it seems I've been banned from seeing the marketplace anyway?

I enjoy basschat, it's like a magazine only free. Considering how much I pay for my subscription to BGM it's terrific value for money and you can't get any better than free.

I couldn't buy a years worth of our local paper for £20 and that's not even worth reading.

£20 to sell a few bass type things and keep a great site going, I call that a real bargain and even if I don't sell anything, it's still a bargain.

I don't mind paying for ads, but posts shouldn't "just disappear".

There should be a notification that a deletion has occurred.

An automatic deletion could easily put out an automatic reason.

I think there's some confusion here.

If someone starts to post an advert and then decides not to fill in the payment screen when prompted, the advert isn't accepted by the system - that shouldn't really be a big surprise to anyone. :)

Under certain circumstances, it is possible that the header of the abandoned advert will appear on the forum for a short time.
This does not mean that it has been accepted without payment - the poster should not be surprised when it disappears, because disappear it will. :)

If someone goes to Amazon, orders a pile of books and then decides not to fill in the payment screen, they don't get the books and they don't get a mail telling them that they're not going to get them.
Same thing here - it's a universal standard.

If an advert is 'removed' by a mod then they will always send a PM explaining what they have done and why.

It should perhaps be noted here that Mods cannot actually 'repair' adverts that have been 'removed' or discarded, it's not Mods being 'awkward', it just isn't doable.

The advertiser will need to start their advertisement again and ensure they avoid the error that led to the removal of their advert the first time round.

In my experience, once the errors are pointed out to most advertisers they have a quick "Oh crikey, what was I thinking" moment, repost their advert correctly, we have a bit of a laugh about it and everyone's happy.

If anyone isn't sure of where they've gone wrong, then just let the Mod know - we are always happy to provide guidance if needed.

Could be.

I'm not complaining exactly.
I missed the new charge completely, and then missed the fact that my ad didn't appear,so it came as a bit of a surprise is all.
This followed on the heels of a disappointment over a deleted post on the " Ooh isn't Pippas arse lovely"thread ostensibly for racist comments.
So I was a little ill disposed to the BC massive.
Anyway, I'm off to pay my fee, so chuckle on.

I'M SO ANNOYED!

I POSTED AN AD FOR SOMETHING ON THIS SITE, WOT IVE BEEN USING FOR FREE FOR YEARS. AND BECAUSE I REFUSED TO PAY MY AD HAS BEEN DELETED AND THE MODS DIDNT GO TO THE EFFORT TO EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT I COULDN'T BE BOTHERED TO READ.

AND NOW IM GOING 2 RANT ABOUT IT WITHOUT SEEKING AN EXPLANATION FIRST.

I'M CONSIDERING LEAVING BC BECAUSE OF THIS!!!!!

The header of the abandoned advert, before it is automatically deleted, will trigger a notification. That's why some 'for sale' items don't appear and generate an error message when you click on them. It's a bug in the system. :)
