When this thread was started I seem to remember there was a lot of looking down on covers, p basses etc...

How things change! P-Basses seem to be enjoying a resurgence. Well... they are round at my house, at least... :D

I play a Warwick in a Funk-Rock band...does this make me hipster or chav? This system isn't the clearest
No - anti-chav. If you are in the same space as a chav there will be an explosion

Does TE qualify as chav now ? That could make a lot of sense .
Well they were available with 'neon downlighting'
Funnily enough, tonight I shall be playing through a borrowed TE AH400SMX in my Rock covers band (my trusty old Ampeg B500 died on me last week - sob) and will be using my P copy on a few numbers although I'll be using my Fender Jazz for most songs.
Where does this leave me?!

With P-Basses having a renaissance does that mean they'll become the Burberry of the bass world again?

No p bass, but I drive this, which I'm pretty sure qualifies me here ;)

I reckon if you lower it you'd definitely qualify :)

The case for the prosecution:

Lives in Enfield.
Drives a beat up Mitsubishi FTO
Works, but attire is jeans, T-shirt, trainers and stubble
Preferred drink is lager
Plays a second hand Jap copy through a junk shop amp and speakers

The case for the defence:

Enfield's actually nice west of the A10 where I live
The FTO was a gift from my brother
I'm a computer programmer so scruffiness is obligatory
I only drink lager made to the Purity Law (German, Czech or Polish)
The copy is a high end Greco Rickenfaker and the amp has been rebuilt from the chassis up

Me: "Would you like a cup of tea?"

Friend: "That would be great, milk and three sugars please."

Me: "Uh, no, I've only got Earl Grey and it's usually served black. I've not got any white sugar in the house either, is demerara alright?"

Friend: "You're too middle class for your own good."

Looks like I'm out.

I had one Birthday party gig I turned up to in a mis-matched tracksuit/Pjamas before. I NEVER go out in a tracksuit or anything that would resemble me looking like a chav but I ended up watching a film and really getting into it. I completely forgot about the gig, and left myself 10 minutes to do a 45 minute journey.

All I had time to do was throw my gear and some nice clothes in the car and put my foot down!

As you can imagine I got a fair bit of abuse from the band for being late, and turning up to someone birthday party looking like I was about to steal all the gear.

I also play a P Bass in a covers band USING A PICK

I put milk in my Earl Grey. Does that mean I'm in?

Personally I think that's disgusting, but it doesn't indicate a preference for Tetley / PG tips / Asda's own brand over Earl Grey.

Consider other criteria such as have you resprayed your bass with pearlescent car paint? Are you playing through a battered 4x10 cab even though two of the cones are busted and have to be disconnected? etc.
