  1. Russ just bought an Ashdown CTM300 head and 410 cab from me and it was a very pleasant transaction as always. One of Basschat's finest, cheers mate!
  2. I can't believe I'm putting my dream amp up for sale but since my band has recently upgraded our PA and started using in ear monitoring, I'm finding that the little CTM30 I also own is more than adequate for my gigging needs - and Christmas and car repairs on the way are helping me make up my mind sadly. If you don't already know, this amp is an absolute monster - incredibly loud and powerful and the tone is just astounding. Yes it's heavy but it's still manageable for one person and there is just no comparison in the sound to lighter solid state and class D amps. It's in full working order and overall good condition with a couple of minor scuffs and nicks in the tolex covering but nothing very noticeable (see photos) These are currently £2599 direct from Ashdown so this is a chance to get your hands on a top quality amp for a fraction of the price. Collection only or I'd be willing to deliver within 50 miles of Fakenham in Norfolk at 20p per mile. Any questions please feel free to ask. Information below is taken straight from the Ashdown website. The Ashdown CTM-300 stands as a testament to the timeless allure of classic tube heads, while embracing the demands of modern bassists. This 300W valve masterpiece is meticulously hand built in the UK's Ashdown Custom Shop, ensuring top-notch quality and reliability. Housed within an 18mm Marine grade birch ply cabinet, the CTM-300 boasts rugged construction, complete with heavy-duty flip-style handles and an internal fan for optimal cooling during those relentless gigging sessions. This amplifier is engineered for longevity, utilizing only the finest components to guarantee years of trouble-free performance. At its core, the CTM-300 features a classic five-valve preamp configuration and a robust power section powered by six KT88 output tubes, delivering the immense grunt, warmth, and headroom that bassists crave. Whether you're seeking the mellow tones of the '60s, the growling power of '70s rock, or the contemporary punch of today, this amp covers a vast spectrum of sonic ground. Engage the Mellow button for smooth, warm, clean tones, or push it out to achieve pure valve-driven growl. With standard tone controls and additional features like Deep, Mid Shift, and Bright switches, you can fine-tune your sound to perfection. The interactive nature of these controls allows you to sculpt your tone precisely as you envision it. The CTM-300's user-adjustable bias for each individual power tube saves you the hassle and cost of tech visits while ensuring your amp maintains its peak performance. You can easily set the bias by using the dual-function VU meter on the front panel, which also indicates tube or fuse failure. Speaking of tubes, they are individually fused and user-replaceable without removing the unit from its case. For studio and stage versatility, the CTM-300 features a tube-driven, transformer-derived DI output with an isolated ground for pristine sound quality and consistent output. Additionally, the front-mounted effects loop, also tube-driven, preserves your tone for maximum impact. In summary, the Ashdown CTM-300 is not just an amplifier; it's a powerful statement of sonic craftsmanship, combining the best of the past with the demands of the present. Elevate your bass game with this tube-driven masterpiece.
  3. Picked up a Warwick Thumb from Mike today. Couldn't have been more helpful and a genuinely nice bloke. The bass is fantastic too. 🙂 Thanks mate! 👍

  5. Up for sale here is my Bass Soul Food overdrive pedal from Electro Harmonix. Happy to post at buyers expense. Royal Mail second class signed for should be about £4.20. This is my favourite overdrive pedal for bass but also works brilliantly on guitar. With everything from a pure clean boost to rich harmonic overdrive available, this is as versatile as it is brilliant sounding. I'm quite reluctant to sell it to be honest but I've moved over to an all valve amp so I'm now getting all the drive I need from the amp itself and this is too good a pedal to just sit unused on my pedal-board. It's in excellent condition and has velcro on the back all ready to mount on your own pedal board. This pedal will run on either a 9v battery or from a 9v mains adapter but please note that neither a battery or mains power supply are included. It does however come with the original box and instruction leaflet.
  6. Just collected a cheap and cheerful Legend p-bass from Russ (which plays far better than it has any right to for the price). A very easy and pleasant transaction and a great guy to deal with.
  7. I now have a big valve rig and a little valve rig - and for anyone complaining about the weight of valve amps I got that CTM300 up on top of the 6x10 and 4x10 on my own no trouble and I'm only 5'8"so no excuses. 😁
  8. Just sold Jim my Aphex Bass Xciter pedal. Nice clear easy communication, immediate payment and generally a thoroughly pleasant chap all round.!
  9. Up for sale here is my Aphex Bass Xciter - Aural Exciter with Big Bottom preamp pedal & DI. This really is an amazing pedal - it transforms your bass from sounding good to sounding incredible! This isn't just an EQ. Although it allows you to sculpt your tone in a similarly simple way, I've found that you can't get these results with just EQ. It let's you add real weight and punch to your low end without any muddyness or boomyness and also to add loads of clarity and definition to the higher end and mids without any harshness. It has the added bonus of including a balanced DI output which also allows it to run off phantom power to make it even more versatile. Comes with the user manual but no power supply. These are no longer available new so grab yourself an incredible pedal that will only get harder to come by. Will post Royal Mail 2nd class recorded for an additional £4. Payment accepted through PayPal if you cover the fees or by bank transfer.
  10. These kind of classifications are obviously entirely arbitrary and completely subjective and they've also evolved massively over time. As an analogy, it's like saying "is this a fast car or not?" Do you consider a Golf GTI to be a fast car or do you have to get into Porsche 911 territory for it to be classed as fast? And what about how things have changed over time? Back in 1901 this car held the land speed record at 65.79 miles an hour (achievable now on a 125cc learner legal motorcycle) but today I wouldn't want to be stuck behind one for too long in my 10 year old 1.6 Diesel Peugeot. Long and short of it - there's no answer to this question. 🤷‍♂️
  11. Brand new Ashdown CTM30 for just £333 anyone?! https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/ashdown-ctm-30-valve-bass-head
  12. It's actually a Harley Benton Power Attenuator that I've just tarted up to look like it's Ashdown. 😁
  13. This was my rig at our first gig since lockdown a few weeks ago. Since then though a CTM300 has been added to the collection so I've included a couple of pictures of the amps and cabs I have to choose from (which could in theory all be combined into one big, slightly ridiculous super rig). The CTM300 will get its first outing at a biker get together on Thursday.
  14. Just bought Marc's Ashdown CTM300. Admittedly I did buy it through ebay because I didn't spot his listing on here until after I'd already paid but its still a transaction with a fellow BC'er so I figure it still counts to leave some feedback. Marc's communications were great throughout and he even delivered it in person so all the fears of a trusting a courier with a big, heavy, all valve amp were avoided. Thanks Marc, it was a pleasure dealing with you.
  15. Came on to this once with a band I played in for a short time. It was a bit tongue in cheek as we were playing upbeat pop-rock originals but it actually seemed to work really well.
  16. I wish I had a spare £700 right now. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2798835460403070/
  17. When you do get a new cab next year, if you decided to sell those on I might be interested. I've been thinking about a Mini48 / Mini15 double stack. 🤔
  18. Well that'll teach me to get my hopes up. 😔
  19. First gig since lockdown confirmed this evening for next Saturday! It's even paid - at roughly 2/3 of our pre-lockdown standard fee. I'd happily have done it for free to be honest but it'll be a couple of extra Christmas presents for my kids which is nice. I literally can't remember the last time I was this excited! Gigging has been such a massive part of my life for the last 25 years and I can't deny that the lack of gigs this year has had a genuine impact on my mental health. I feel like somebody that lost a leg but a doctor has just told me that he can regrow it for me. 😁
