I'd take a stacked-knob Jazz whilst I was there too, probably sonic blue or surf/seafoam green with a rosewood board, pretty 60's affair again except with an ash body. johnDeereJack Posted November 15, 2012 Share Posted November 15, 2012 Either a LPB '69 jazz with matching headstock, ala Herbie Flowers as mentioned earlier, but not 'reliced' (I hate the way that word looks!) or RickFine's '57/58 P bass (which I thought was pretty damned amazing) with the raised A pole piece and no 'Custom Shop' logo on the back of the headstock. Te 'Custom Shop' logo is just a no-go for me, not that I have 2 or 3k to spend ona bass, but if I did then I'd certainly not want that on it. Musicman20 Posted November 15, 2012 Share Posted November 15, 2012 Probably either a P/J on a P body or just a P, Olympic or yellowing White, NOT AGED, vintage tint neck, dark rosewood board, light as they can make it, the modern AS bridge, and a thicker poly than they currently use (probably not nitro for me). 62 reissue pup for the P. I've looked at the catalogue a few times but only saw recommended full retail prices for finished basses & not options. Those masterbuilt fees are really high - there's an extra $1,000 to specifically choose your builder as well. They are, unsurprisingly, totally about Strat & Tele shapes but I like the way the guy in the vids stresses some stuff about there not being a 'better' wood but just that it will sound 'different'. Clarky Posted November 15, 2012 Share Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) As I already have the only P bass I want, I would go for a 1962 reissue Jazz in sunburst with proper clay dots in a very dark rosewood board and insist on the CS finding real celluloid for the tort scratchplate. Nothing too outlandish, just a quality copy of the classic 62 Jazz, lightly relic'd so I didn't worry about treating it with kid gloves. Dingus Posted November 15, 2012 Share Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) To go with my fantasy Jazz Bass I ordered yesterday , I will also have a Precision Bass in Fiesta Red ( not the faded to pink version either , proper Fiesta Red ) with a Brazilian rosewood board ( I used to have a girlfriend with a Brazilian and she was pretty tasty so I expect it would work well on a bass ) , 60s logo , Badass bridge , 60s Vintage pickup and a white scratchplate . Oh, and can you make sure it weighs less than 9 pounds and has got a nice tight neck pocket . And no annoying fretbuzz . And that the trussrod works properly .
