As a bass player you can have one type of guitar- what would it be

I'm an Electro-Acoustic kinda guy & got a Freshman FA300. Had a few electrics in the past & whilst they're a doddle to play, the Freshman is a more versatile too for me as I can play it unplugged at home/parties or plug it in & fire it through some fx.

A friend has a 12 string jobby & they're a pain in the butt for tuning & then retuning!

Archtop, so I chose 'Acoustic with a pickup/preamp (electro acoustic are they called?)', although I doubt that this was your intention. Incidently, a 12-string shouldn't be more difficult to tune (or, at least, my Daisy Rock isn't...).

What about 12-string electric?

And besides what's all this crap about having only one type of guitar? That's like saying you can only have one type of bass. Nonsense!

Well, until recently I had (in addition to my basses) an electro-acoustic steel-string, an electro-acoustic classical, an archtop Jazz guitar, numerous solidbody electrics, a Gibson 335 (which I mention separately only because it could easily be in any one of 3 categories) and a 5-string Banjo. At one time or another I've used all of them either for teaching or gigging, and in an ideal world I wouldn't want to be without any of them (although circumstances have dictated otherwise); I can't imagine that I'm alone on here in thinking that.

Ironically, I'd find it less difficult to specify a single bass (the Sei 5) than a single guitar. Sorry.

yeah yeah yeah, theres 50 million types of guitar's I left off....
the thinking comes from the fact I'm going to be moving soon and for a while have far less space.
I have two basses- neither of which are going anywhere (bar stupid amounts of $) and two guitars. If I had one less instrument my life would be just that little bit easier- do you see?

This one. It is the one that I would be carrying out of my house while it burned to the ground, stepping over my wife and apologising to her and hoping she understands.
(And leaving all my basses and other guitars to burn)

You did miss Semi-Acoustic off the list (they're hollow bodied electrics such as the 335).
[pedantry] Not trying to be picky, but the 335 isn't hollow bodied strictly speaking. The hollow bits are just acoustic chambers either side of a massive slab of maple. So, you can think of it as semi acoustic; or you can think of it as a solidbody with acoustic chambers; or you could (stretching the point a bit) call it an archtop as well. [/pedantry]

Come to think of it, if I could only rescue one guitar from the flames, it would have to be that one I guess. Maybe I can risk getting a bit singed and pick up the Takamine acoustic as well?

So it's really a semi-semi-acoustic archtop?

335s and the ilk are known as semi-solid to be super pedantic. Whereas the ES-175 is a semi acoustic.
Glad I could help....

Thanks for that. *Dies*

But the Epiphone Casino is properly hollow - same as a Gibson ES-330.
