urb
Hey guys - thanks for great day - a mark of the success was much discussion of the NEXT bash - which I think will be even bigger and better - +1 for CK's Celinder Jazz - surprisingly my fave bass to own if I could like... and Ped's great V4 - and aside from some excessive bass end volumes (I know I was partly responsible) it was a really fun day - great meeting and talking to some of you at length - special thanks to Jimbo for the lift and excellent chats on route - hope to see some of you soon. I'm off to be a dad - so expect my playing to be all over the shop the next time you hear me...I'll let you know when the little fella (it's a boy) arrives. Cheers to one and all - apologies for the excessive slapping. Mike
JoeS
Sounds like everyone that went had a great time, gutted I couldn't make it (although I've probably saved a fair bit of my hard-earned by not going!). Here's hoping the next one will be just as good - and held in the south
allighatt0r
Any chance of some names next to all those faces Rich? I would love to attend the next bash, although i think i would feel a bit unworthy in the presence of some properly experienced players. FJ1200
+1000 huge thanks to Ped and the organisers. I had a great afternoon, good to put faces to names, and came away with a Boss drum machine to boot! Fantastic weather, nice to sit outside in the sun, drink beer and chat. Got a bit too loud at times for me inside - sounded a couple of times like people were trying to drown each other out. Bit OTT really. Otherwise - book me in for next year! Nick - you SURE you need another bass? See you Tuesday anyway. Been playing with my new toy - it's going to be fun to use and a big help with practising. I was looking at buying a drum machine in the next few weeks but don't have to now. Only trouble now is... very bad GAS!
Merton
Big thanks to Ped, CK and Machines (and anyone else I've forgotten, sorry!) for sorting such a fantastic day. I left under no illusions about how much practice i need to do (not enough hours in the day), having fallen in love with about 5 basses and realised that my Retroactive sounds EVEN BETTER when played properly (i.e. by you 'orrible lot!) Bass highlights: Alex's RIM custom Luke's Vigier (still can't get over how perfectly it sat on the strap, amazing) Doctorbass's blue Vigier Rich's Shuker Amp highlights: Thunderfunk + DR Bass combination was awesome Sunn!! (Reminds me - Nash, I didn't get to say goodbye, was good to see you again!) Good to put more faces to names. Al - cheers for driving! RIM Basses
Hi Guys, Had a great time today, good to meet most of you and Ped your a Star! It was cool to see so many nice basses amongst the barrage of bass notes being played. Fav bass of the day was The woods and Tronics Mark had with him. Keep safe guys, Robbie. spike
Just adding to what everyone else has said, thanks to Ped for organising it and thaks to Woodenshirt for the sarnies. It was great to see so many bassists in one place. The highlight for me was having a go on Bass Ace's double bass
steantval
Thanks to Ped for a great bass day. Good to see so many different bass rigs and a vast selection of instruments. I found the folks attending to be very friendly and helpful with advice. For some like myself who doesn't play slap style I was amazed at some of the playing there today, I thought it had gone out of fashion, obviously not!!!!! And just to finish off a fantastic day I got a phone call this evening offering me a job in a Free tribute band, just up my street (Mr Big solo). obbm
What a great day. Highpoints were playing Merton's Retroactive and G77s Streamliner plus realising that I could lift Dood's Epi UL610 on my own. Thanks ped for organising. Thanks Woodenshirt for Sarnies. Thanks Rich for cup of tea. Thanks Merton and G77 for giving me Status gas yet again.
I was reunited with OBBM after thirty years .....
Actually I think it's closer to 25 Roger, but still a long time.
.... and I didn't even realize he played bass.
I assure you its just an unfounded rumour. Like I said, i'm glad it got a chance to be played properly today and glad everyone liked it You reminded me of my other highlights - the Streamliner (I want one sooo much now!) and your little pink Precision copy
doctor_of_the_bass
Allo! What a super day! Can't really single anything out as it was a real pleasure to meet so many great people and fantastic players - Ped's Vigier does get a very special mention tho!!!! Rich - that Shuker is wonderful! Merton, lovely Status, Kiwi, a man with great taste in graphite etc etc. I feel a little funny having won yet another bass but there we are (my donated prize OLP has gone to a very good home too). The words `git' and 'jammy' may well apply here! Hope you all got home ok! Thanks again. Sorry for the constant slappertronics and terrible face pulling! tauzero
Excellent day. Thanks to The Organisers, Woodenshirt for the sarnies, and to whoever donated the dbx 266 which I've just been playing with... Was nice to put some faces to names (not that I'll remember them, got a memory like a wossname). High points for me were CK's 5-string fretless Ken Smith, and playing "Mustang Sally" on the Doodlebug. The mix of basses was a little unexpected - more Ligiers than you could shake a stick at, tons of Stauseseses, and only three Warwicks. And the entire membership of the Antoniotsai Owners' Club UK. The future Mrs Zero also had a good day, which was nice (although she didn't keep saying "you ought to have one of those" to me, which was a bit of a disappointment). Looking forward to the next one...
wizbat
+1 to all the thanks already said to ped and co for an excellent day out, It was nice meeting up with nick(dr bass) again, and finally meeting the famed mr shuker, I,ll find out later this week just how much my serious gas attack is going to cost me!!!. teen t-shirt
any idea of when and where the next one is so i can get to it... i would probably do with seeing how the bass is supposed to be played by real bassists... i swear all i do is imitate one... it's probably already said but i can't be arsed to read back through... forgotten anyway... OldGit
+1 on all of the above Must try a few more out next time, and put my lugplugs in, but it was great to hear my pair of Shukers played so well by other people +1 for playing Mustang Sally on the Doodle My car's almost recovered from transporting Nash' Sunn head. Thanks to Nash for riding shot gun and for patiently listening to my rambling
lukeward2004
Cracking day out - good to meet those of you whom i have not met before and good to see those of you who I have met! Nice to see some more Vigier love going around the board fraternity, and was a great day out - highlights where generally everything, im not going to post any favourite basses etc as it will only give me more GAS and there are many basses I liked. Liked Merton's Status Retro Active J, lovely tone, and liked Kiwi's Cutlass 1 MM, and the usual Vigier love. Feeling suitably knackered now though! Kiwi
All I can say is WOW So many people turned up and SO MANY BASSES! I don't think we've ever had such a stunning variety of gear before. This is really what its all about - thanks also to Woodenshirt for the industrial quantities of sarnies, we managed to distribute the few cartons that were left over after feeding the hundred or so that showed up. Good to see suppliers too with John East, Jon Shuker, Poptart etc. showing up as well. Awesome, absolutely awesome! Without question, the best Bassbash ever. My picks (not that I actually tried much) was DoctorBass's graphite necked Pangborn for the stunningly low action, and if my bass is going to be anything to play like Johngh's Shuker 6, I'm going to be a very happy chap. Alien
Great day out - meeting new people and putting faces to names. First the pics Trio of Arias courtesy of Bloodaxe - RAAAWWWWK! The Vigier posse - Nick, Luke & Ped. Everyone loved the Attitude (oops) - one of the most played basses of the day A Warwick, a Celinder and a pair of Antoniotsais The mojo from this Jazz filled the room I'll post a few more when I've got them fit to look at! Highlights of the day for me were: Ari's MTD 5 string, Nik's Fender Roscoe Beck (only spotted as he was putting it away - Sorry Nik!), Luke's Epi 3x10 (I so have to stay away from things like this). Thanks to Ped and the guys for organising the Bash, and to everyone who came and made it a great day out. Andy

WalMan
I would love to attend the next bash, although i think i would feel a bit unworthy in the presence of some properly experienced players.
Oh I wouldn't worry about that - I'll be there And we're back after a much needed coffee at Mert's so I rather think passing on the meal after - great as that would have been - was probably a good move. And so to the initial SE Bass Bash Bus (reduced) photos - Arriving, or not as the case may be - Merton realises why his mother told him never accept lifts from strange men - CK needs feeding - the SE Bass Bash Bus prepares for lift off & another eventful journey full of exciting detours. Walman insists it was just the pretty route. Silverfoxnik & Merton wonder just HOW someone with satnav can get quite so lost so often. - A bevvy of basses have a day trip to Northampton from the seaside - The Vigier club holds its inaugural meeting - Walman demonstrates the wrong way to play a really nice bass Good to meet up with some old faces, as well as meet some new, chat and try some different stuff. Thanks to all involved in organising this celebration of bass. One has to wonder though quite what the Sunday diners thought was happening, probably that another earthquake had hit. s_u_y_*
Man... I can't believe I missed it again! I woke up feeling absolutely awful and thought it best not to risk going. Lfalex v1.1
An excellent day! A big thanks to everyone who organised it and to those who went for helping to make it what it was. Great to see such a big turn out and such an array of phenomenal equipment. I can now put a lot of faces and names to user IDs! A big up to Ped, Luke and the good Doctor for bringing such a raft of Vigier goodness (Still feeling the love, guys - Sorry I missed the group photo!) My surprises of the day- Just how good all of the basses were, particularly the Doctors 30-90 strung Arpege.. How (relatively) high my action is on many of the basses I own (reaches for allen keys) How much people actually liked the Evil Purple Yamaha Attitude... And the fact that I arrived with 4 instruments and left with 5... Thanks to the Raffle. She who must be ignored is not amused (but my daughter loves the colour!) Thanks again everyone...
