Manchester DJ Dave Haslam chatting with Nile Rodgers about his life, chic, Bowie, madonna and of course, Bernard Edwards! What a great night, I have a lot of respect for this guy, he's a great musician, not just a guitarist, but an arranger and producer Second half he got his strat' out and played! Incredible, he talked about why he plays what he does and demostrated regular chords verses his inversions, really cool, he has that sound that is Nile Rodgers, it's in the hands and last night proved that! His intro to this tune just about sums him up, i think his style required an Active, nine volt battery driven right hand technique. Not to put disco down (I am a self confessed disco slut) but they were unfairly tarred with that brush, so when disco's popularity waned, so did theirs. A lot of fancy lead players can't hold that down. So we can create big holes in the music and it all hangs together. And Bernard of course was an inspiration.
