My other passion is model railways, and this is happening in that field as well. 'Weathering' they call it, and when its done well it looks great. Some people call themselves experts at 'weathering' but they aren't experts at anything apart from ruining a perfectly good model. This guitar looks as though someone with a guide dog has done it. You could either create your own using a graphics package or scan/photo a genuine one and print out on waterslide paper. Not quite as easy as printing a photo on normal paper but not much more difficult. Seeing the 'professional' make over this bass has been subjected to, I am highly suspicious about his decal sales. Anyway, if someone is dumb enough to buy this belt sander butchery victim then they obviously have no taste or common sense so perhaps deserve to be relieved of some pennies. It's removed someone's chance of buying a pretty well pristine example for a reasonable price. Note: if somebody bought it to vandalise for their own use, fair enough. It's the fact that an instrument is still on the market but has been turned into crap that I find objectionable. I also find it remarkable that someone would pay £35 more for it in shagged than in pristine form. It just goes to show that P. T. Barnum's [i]dictum[/i] "No man ever went broke overestimating the ignorance of the American public" is equally applicable on this side of the Atlantic. Still, given that Ebay and Paypal fees will mean he won't have made any profit on this, perhaps he'll be discouraged from wrecking any more.
