I use this. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Portable-50kg-10g-Digital-LCD-Electronic-Luggage-Hanging-Weight-Scale-in-UK-/331579345218?hash=item4d33ab4942 Useless for getting a decent bass sound, great for getting a decent bass weight. Bump for a fantastic bass.

As the stem is normally matched to the machine head gearing, I'd be surprised if you can separate them. Best to buy a new set of tuners? http://www.allparts.uk.com/pages/tuning-keys-for-bass

It generally refers to optimising the playability (i.e.how good does the guitar feel to you to play) by making small adjustments to the neck relief, string height, pickup height, string spacing, amongst others. manufacturers often publish default specs but there's no real definite measurements - it can vary by person. YouTube does have some good videos on how to do these things - just search on 'setup' and whatever bass you have. You don't need a huge amount of special tools and it's hard to do any real damage. it's all actually very simple to do yourself and you get to know what minor tweaks to do to suit your own playing style. If you're nervous about doing this, your local guitar shop should be able to advise you on someone local who can help.

As above, it may be worth looking at your playing style too rather than assume it's a straight forward bass weight problem. Obviously a good strap helps in spreading the weight but if your left arm is twisted or tensed then this can result in shoulder and back pain.

Ah thanks yes, that's a way round it that works! Would prefer a mobile version solution though from a readability perspective...
-
sorry if this has been covered before - when opening a thread with many pages to it on the mobile version, there seems to be no way to go to the latest page without first visiting each in sequence? When a thread hits more than five pages I tend not to open it nowadays...am I missing a simple way of skipping to last page? Thanks Steve

Well your thread convinced me to buy one too and I also have a CMD121 so you better be right!! If I don't sound like you or Nate then it's going straight back!😉 On a side note, the prices of these have just received a hefty hike on a lot of the major sites.

Neck Dimensions and Descriptions . . . Possible sticky?
Muppet replied to King Tut's topic in Bass Guitars
Likewise, and for the same model bass they are very different to play. Linking in with Alyctes idea of a database of bass dimensions, why not make cardboard templates of the profiles at nut / first fret and 12th fret. Photograph the profiles with ruler scale in picture. +1 to Manton Customs, it is all personal preference.
Like this idea. Being able to visualise something and then relate it to an existing bass that you've played would really help. -
Bit harsh? maybe an innocent mistake?

Email TC Electronic direct. They will send you some free of charge. Support email is on their website.

I have a Coronado and a Chowny and prefer the Chownys sound and the weight - it's only a tad over 7lbs. You could always consider a Epiphone Jack Casady too?

Flying with bass (yes I know, it's been discussed!)
Muppet replied to goblin's topic in General Discussion
I have flown several times and always used a Hiscox case, checked in to hold. Duct tape round the catches but not locked. Always been fine for me. -
True home rehearsal/practice combos - Yamaha THR and Roland Cube 10GX
Muppet replied to Musicman20's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have the 10, not the 10C. For practice it is absolutely brilliant and I use it both for guitar and bass. In fact I don't use anything else now at home and I'm playing the 'holy trinity' of LP, Strat and Tele. Connecting to a PC via USB means there are loads more parameters (compression, reverb and delay settings) you can adjust and send to the presets on the unit. It's great to be able to adjust the level of the guitar and aux input independently. The bass sound is remarkably good too and the effects apply equally as well to the bass sound. And, aesthetically it is very pleasing also it looks nice sitting on a shelf in my office! Highly recommended. steve -
True, however it is just the idea of returning a bass, sold as unplayable and for decoration only, because it does not play as well as you would have hoped that I struggle with.
Absolutely and I agree with you. I struggle with the whole 'I've decided I don't like it now so I'm sending it back' principle, but that's maybe because I have normally done all my research up front, so all I'm assessing is the quality of the delivered product versus what was expected. If I order and receive an unplayable guitar and I get the guitar that I ordered and it's unplayable, err, I've got what I wanted!
-
Moral issues aside, under distance selling you can return anything you've bought within the cooling off period, I thought. You don't have to give any reason whatsoever for returning.

I like it when the bass takes a prominent role in the song for a short period of time whilst remaining integrated (if that makes sense) but many bass solos I hear or observe seem to be merely an opportunity for someone to show off their technical ability, as if they are out to prove a point. Slap solos send me to the bar.

We have used it and have had Tom Robinson select a couple of our tracks from it to play on his show on 6 Music. We've also performed live in our local BBC studios a couple of times through their 'introducing' programme, so I guess it works for us. I'm not sure there is much more to it than luck and right place right time though. steve

Doubts about 1976 Fender Precision Fretless Originality
Muppet replied to rainforest's topic in Bass Guitars
I'm not so sure. Here's one from Andy Baxters site. Note the logo and there's no headstock truss rod plug on this one.
