1.
Are they any good though? I have a Fender one and it's rubbish... it doesn't pick up low B and it's interpretation of "in tune" is dubious at best.
Good point, they're both fine for standard 4 string and drop D (when I compare against a Polytune stomp) but I can't say for a low B. If the TC does accurate low B then I can see how the price can be justified. In any case, it looks a lot better than other clips, but I'm a TC fan anyway. steve
2. I have a AVRI 74 Jazz and the spacings on the covers and the guitar match at 115mm for the neck cover and 120mm for the bridge. I know it doesn't help you, sorry, but I was a bit curious!
3.
Keep up fellas.. http://basschat.co.u...83-cool-gadget/
I think this thread was started first! That aside, it's a bit pricey given that the Korg clip on (and the tiny one from Planet Waves) come in at under £15...?
4. Specs say this one will go down to 5ms which compares well with the G30 given they're at the same price point. The G75 costs three times as much so I'd expect better performance and features from that.
5. I'm not a fan of the bug type transmitters but I like this one as you can use it like a traditional body pack. I'd be really interested in your view Dood as I'm in the market for one to replace my ageing sennheiser... steve
6.
Just been reading this thread as I'm having similar thoughts. I currently have a TC rig, Classic 450 into BC210, which is great for the pub covers band. I'm looking for something smaller, with a one-hand carry, to take to things like pit-band gigs. The MB 121P seems the obvious choice, but the TC BG250 112 also caught my eye, as I'm already a TC fan and it's much more wallet-friendly than the MB. As mentioned, the BG250 doesn't appear to support an extension cab. Although I like the idea of a little combo that can be extended as needed, when needed I'd probably prefer to take just one bigger cab than two smaller ones! With my current setup I can just about do a single-trip get-in, with the aid of a trolley... but then the MB + a second 1x12 could probably sit on the trolley... /thinking aloud /ramble over
I have a RH750 with RS212 and 112 cabs, a BG250-115 and a CMD121P with a NY121. I'm finding that in pretty much every situation I'm picking up the Markbass cabs. Size, tone, weight - and with two cabs - volume make it a winner.
7. Hi Mark, welcome. Don't be fooled in to thinking bass gear can't be expensive though. Stick around for a while and you'll discover this!
8. Thanks, yes my research suggests that people often glue the screws when they slip, or, as you have done, swap the bridge out completely! Last night I gently heated the saddles over the gas stove and the glue melted enough for me to turn out the screws. The glue hardened again but brittle so it could be chipped off with a watchmakers screwdriver with no damage to the saddle itself.
9. Definitely glue! A little heat on it and it's got that superglue smell going on... Someone obviously set it up to their specs and decided it wasn't every going to change! Will persevere..
10. New (to me) jazz bass. Vintage BBOT bridge with slot head saddle height screws. I go to set my string height and I find the buggers have been glued in place. Is this madness? Any ideas about how to remove the glue, heat maybe or something else? steve
11. Bump - is this overpriced perhaps, I dunno? Maybe there's just no acoustic bass love at the moment.......
12. I'm starting a semi hollow collection!
13. An old band of mine used to play this until one gig we got a complaint. Up till then we hadn't really ever considered it but dropped in favour of You Can't Really Get What You Want. steve
14. Oh and I also turn the bass down quite a lot and use the Low Mid to control a lot more. You can also play around with the frequency settings too I guess. I have a chart of those (for each control) if you wanted it
15. It's a balancing act with volume. The RH750 is very linear in terms of tone across the volume range I find (the TC BG250 is designed to vary however). The growl from the tube tone seems not to change either. I still reckon the sound you love is coming from a pair of well driven Barefaced cabs and when you're playing at low volume you're not driving them very hard. I would use the RH450 (not the 750) and one cab only and see what that sounds like?
16. Doesn't necessarily mean it's the amps, it could be the cabs. I have both those amps too and don't find them a problem at any volume. What's it like using just one cab? steve
17. Who's telling you, your bandmates or your audience? steve
18. I have one just the same, with a J retro. Second one I have had. If you get it you won't be disappointed, they are fantastic.
19. This is in virtually 'as -new' condition as I think it must have been played for all of about an hour in total. It's a satin finish all round, in spruce with rosewood fretboard. It comes with a very good Roksak gig bag and it has lived all its life in this. Here's a link to the current model - Mine is a couple of years older so I'm not sure if the spec has changed in the meantime but it does look pretty much like this. http://www.tanglewoo...TW155ABASS.html Collect from Cambs or Milton Keynes please steve
20. Pretty much as new, including tin and all the gubbins that comes with it. Price includes postage in UK. No trades or offers of girlfriends, chickens or root vegetables, thanks. steve
21. If it's parts bass then it's blummin' well matched parts. Glad we got it sorted, went through the same with a Strat - that turned out ok too. Steve
22. Yeah yours and mine look pretty much the same and I know about mine so I'd bet my house yours is genuine American. Good news I'd say. Maybe you might want to pick up a Fender branded neckplate off eBay or something just to finish it if you wanted to. steve
23. Neck looks spot on. It's only a little sticker and was for basses sold in 96. Yours might be earlier or someone's taken the sticker off. What's the neck end and pocket like?
24. Here's mine. Looks like I have a 96 neck and a 95 body. This is genuine as I bought it new. steve
25. String through is normally USA or Japanese. The neckplate would say Fender Corona I think for mid 90s. The neck pocket and the neck would have a inked stamp on them that should match. I've got one somewhere in the house, I'll go find it and check. steve
