  1. I was just browsing on Ebay (as you do) and saw a very nice MIM 70s reissue Fender Jazz Bass for sale. But looking at it a bit closer, it appeared VERY familiar. It should be, because it was my bass! I had to go and check that it was still in my guitar rack (it was). The seller had just nicked the photos from Bassdirect's advertisement and put them up on Ebay as their own. Strangely, the seller lives in Edinburgh too. I reported it to Ebay and they've taken it down. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-70s-Jazz-Bass-3-C-Sunburst-4-String-Bass-Guitar-/154015383061?ul_noapp=true&nma=true&si=A97X97bfD1Io1lgqR8YnhJlzmqM%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  2. I have refused to play for free, at venues that had previously paid my band, but these are different circumstances and I might consider it to give the venue a boost.
  3. Hmmm......I have a story about a drummer who said the same about me. He was obviously insane. It didn't end well. For him.
  4. That's the geezer in Silver Fox! This is interesting stuff, it's not his usual Yacht Rock (which is also very good).
  5. I like rotosound and DR strings but recently bought a bass with Dunlop Superbrights on it. They sound great, have low tension and are pretty reasonably priced. Don't know how long lasting they are though, as I've not had any gigs since march.
  6. I own a Fender Road Worn Jazz bass. I like it but, although the headstock has a few superficial knocks on it, the neck itself is pristine. I would have liked it to have had some signs of wear. I wonder why they didn't give it a quick going over with some wire wool or something.
  7. I did that once and I wasn't so lucky. My bass got nicked. On the bright side - at least the junkies didn't need to break a window to get into my car. I found my bass a year later in the local pawnshop. So all's well that ends well, I suppose.
  8. You must like it LOUD!
  9. As far as I'm aware, the VU meter is not that accurate. I'd go by your ears and if it doesn't sound like it's clipping, then don't worry too much about it. I've had two and never had any problems when the VU has gone into the red.
  10. I think Nancy Johnson is thinking about the Highway 1 jazz. The Roadworns always had the threaded BBOT bridge with the threaded saddles, like yours.
  11. I assume they have CCTV footage of the seller. You could then tell them if that was one of the workmen in your house.
  12. Look up Cash Converter Edinburgh. There was a manager, at their Edinburgh shop, who ended up going to prison, as he set up a separate account to fence stolen goods, that didn't go through the books. I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them. edit: cash generator not converter https://www.scotsman.com/news/cash-generator-branch-boss-jailed-after-selling-stolen-goods-worth-ps50k-1679683
  13. My niece, Stina, started off singing Disney tunes with a hairbrush, this is her now.
  14. Does the end of the string should look like it was wrapped around a tuner? It should if it is a used string.
  15. Do Mike and Maurizio know about one another? They do really complement one another's style. It could be the start of a beautiful friendship. They'll end up going away and forming their own band.
  16. Siobhan Wilson is a singer from Scotland, who has a great voice. She's got a few albums out but is not very well known outside Scotland (and even inside Scotland). This is one of her own songs.
  17. Julia is a beautiful song. I do agree that The White Album would have made a classic single album, there's too much filler for a double album. I would choose 13 songs from the original double album. Three would be Macca tunes, one would be a Harrison, one would be a Ringo tune and all the rest would be from Lennon. Paul Mccartney couldn't half come out with some saccharine rubbish sometimes.
  18. This is very encouraging. I was afraid they would go out of business.
  19. Security breach on level 5. Guitarist detected on Basschat. Release the hounds! 🤣
  20. Oh yeah, my feet can't stop dancin'.
  21. Yes you are overthinking. Have a cup of tea and a biscuit and a nice sit down 😊
  22. Last time I saw any action in Boston's, was when I was on a bus going past and I saw a large number of Rastafarians emptying it's contents into the back of a luton van. This was after the owner and his son had been sent away to a government holiday camp.
  23. I know the Fender road worn Jazzes have been discontinued and the old stock, that is still available in shops, is now selling for silly money.
  24. Our old drummer had severe OCD. He would take hours to actually get out of the house (I assume he was checking everything 3 times) and was inevitably late for every gig. At the end of the night he had to go through the ritual of counting all his cymbals, multiple times, to make sure he had them all (he only had 5 including the hi hat), which meant it would take at least an hour for him to get his kit packed away. Which was a pain, as he was usually giving me a lift back home. Once I got my own car, I'd be away home 10 mins after the gig and just left him to count his cymbals to his hearts content.
  25. I know a few artists who are signed to record companies but make the lion's share of their income gigging. Some are setting up patreon accounts and reaching out to their fanbase to give them an income stream. The longer this goes on, the more difficult making a living will be.
