1. Sounded great through my headphones. Best BBC bass sound for a while. Bowie & Maddona songs weakest. Great funkin disco party stuff.
2.
I also have an AH200 - aren't they bloody good, or what?
Still goimg strong and barely get's taken past 2!
3. Cool. Been watching it for a while.
4. TE AH200 with 2 cabs. See sig. Plenty loud with bags of headroom.
5. Thinking about this topic again It can't be all that bad? BC has existed for quite some time before the competition started last year & I'm sure it will continue for a while yet with or without the competition. Although in defence of xilddx get out there, listen & vote. I am suprised at the number of compositions but equally suprised at how few votes there are - 59 to date!!
6. Well put. I have been aware of the competition since it began but only started listening to June's after the nude female bassist thread. I posted some daft comment which produce some more and received a reply from the OP which got me listening. The standard and quality is staggering. I will be listening and voting each month. I won't be producing any songs for it as I'm not in that zone anymore. Get to and and good luck to all you composers, producers and (especially) bassists.
7. Tasty. What was the filling, did it have Jam in?
8. Hi & welcome. Good to see another female bassist. Also good to see another BC member from Devon. I live in Torquay now but grew up in and around Plymouth. In fact I used to play a Marlin when I lived in Plymouth in the 80's. I can't remember what I did with it, maybe I sold it to your friends dad? I still pop down to Plymouth, not for the music scene but for the bike night on the Hoe during the summer. Always a good ride on the the local back roads. I too checked out your link and found the Jeremy Clarkson song very amusing. You should check out the monthly composition competition here. I have just been listening and had a very hard time voting. http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 Maybe consider getting involved with the Bass Relay too which is taking place. There are not that many involved from the South West. http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1
9. If you are not sure about it you can use it in rotation with your previous cab until you have made your mind up.
10.
Good afternoon, mep... Now read this carefully, and I'll try to explain, in words of less than one syllable, my ingenious ploy here... Did you notice the cunning use of the word 'not' (I've raised it to bold, so as to make more evident...) in the quoted phrase..? This implies a negative, ie: there are NO such pictures in there. Apologies for the apparent disappointment, but if it's not already done... GET OVER THERE AND LISTEN TO THE TRACKS, INSTEAD OF ASKING DUMB QUESTIONS HERE. YES, NOW..! (...and don't forget to vote...) ...AND DON'T SLAM THAT DOOR... Helps..? You're asking us if that helps..? I'm not sure about your creative processes, but if you find it comfortable, then I don't see why not. Close the curtains, though, please.
My arse has been duly kicked I slipped out of the door of this thread without slamming it and went over to listen to this months composition entries. I have listened to the all and a few again. I am so impressed with what I have heard and have voted. I will be checking out the competition on a regular basis if this is what is on offer.
11. WOW. First listening for me for any of the competitions. I am seriously impressed with you all. I'm not sure who to vote for but will have to hurry up. Edit. Had to jump on the laptop to listen to Discreet's as I couldn't listen to it on my mobile. Listened again to a few I shortlisted and went with who captured me first time round. Good luck all of you.
12. I believe the SB600 is the neck set model. I have one and did a bit of research on it. Single passive pup and nice neck profile.
13. Do anyof the tracks have a nude female bassist on them and we have to try and pic(k) which one we think it is?
14. We have merged Whole Lotta Love & Paranoid into Whole Lotta Paranoid. We start with Whole Lotta Love and after the 2nd chorus (before the middle section) hold the E for the beginning of Paranoid, also in E. After paranoid finishes we are holding the E and start again with the end of Whole Lotta Love where the vocals come in with 'Way down'. It really works and is favourite in our set for a whole lotta of people
15.
I never practice any other way than with headphones. I use a Tascam MP-BT1. If I need to randomly play along with anything on a different device, then I still have a CD-BT1MkII that has a line in.
Me too with the Tascam CD trainer. I just use the line in to connect my laptop or phone with the mp3's on. I even use the earphones that came the phone.
16.
They played live on the Tube and I thought they were great. They did a version of Born To Run which I preferred to the live Springsteen versions I've seen (although I'm not a Springsteen fan TBH). It was early days for me as a player but I seem to remember Mark O'Toole was a pretty decent player by then. I don't think they did much on the studio recordings though; I think a large part of it was programmed. Absolutely love the bassline to 'Welcome...' and Trevor Horn is a genius IMO.
I have always liked their version of Born To Run over Springsteen's. We play it in our band and I used to to play it in a band just aftet it was released. It's quite epic. There is also a small basd solo instead of the sax. Geyt your pick out and dig in.
17. Was searching for advice on different settings for TE GP12 graphic equaliser.
18. I wonder when Guy (Douggie) will be along to give us the lowdown on it?

Don't mind me

Hi. Hopefully you will find this easier than talkbass. BC is easy going and has plenty for everyone.
20. Hi Plambers, welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy it here. Hey BassTractor, you beat me to finding this Newbie.
Welcome! I'm sure you'll learn a lot from just being here. I did, and started on BC as a complete noob. Nows I think of it, I'm still a complete noob, so maybe you should look somewhere else! Here are some threads you can look at: http://basschat.co.u...arning-playing/ http://basschat.co.u...s-an-old-stick/ http://basschat.co.u...ner-bass-books/ I'd like to add that the very cheap iBook "How To Play Bass Guitar" from the iTunes store didn't seem too bad. Enjoy the site! best, bert
21.
That was nice 'n' all, but hardly helping us to get to five pages. Write some more, Mep! b, b
Not easy on my phone. Anyway I'm off to find some more newbies.
22. Welcome to the forum. Thought I'd better say hi as there have been a couple of high profile bassists introduce themselves recently and people commenting that most new members don't get 5 pages or so of welcomes Enjoy reading and posting.
23. Nice idea. As I am most active in Off Topic none of my posts will count.
24. Hi and welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy posting and reading. I really enjoyed your article in BGM recently.
25. Mmmm. Nice. First time Stingray owner?
