1. Wow, I winder what that could be. Are you invitded on to The One Show or will the bass make an appearance on Later with Dave Swift using it on a song?
2. Cool. I too have a honeyburst but with 2eq & a rosewood neck. It came with a clear scratchplate which really shows off the body. I have recently changed it for a mirror scratchplate which looks really good too. Enjoy.
3. Is it a king hard decision to make?
4.
I like the fact that he had built a band around him, and he is out there playing live, he is not the worst by a long way. Not impressed with Marta on that vid (and I am a fan ) its one of the easiest things I have seen her play and that is the worst I have seen and heard her play, to me it was just "flat" maybe the Ray5 not a good choice or her sound not a good choice, it lacked imho.
The other videos are better for sure. She really grooves in them and has great technique for the amount of time she has been playing.
5. For all you Locked Out Of Heaven fans, don't forget to check out the cover by the great & lovely Marta Altesa on YouTube.
6. Wow, welcome aboard Guy. I hope you keep posting. I saw your masterclass at the Mansons guitar show a few years ago. It was a real inspiration. A few of us caught up with you afterwards at the Mansons stand. I bought your book which is great and highly recommended. There is a picture of me on here somewhere playing Betsy. I regret not going to your standup that night in Exeter and will be keeping an eye out for another one of your gigs. I'm another big Floyd fan who's pleased to be able to share the same platform as one of my peers.
7.
Always. Can't see jack without 'em, and wouldn't want to miss a jugfest..
Indeed. We gig to watch the audience, while they watch and listen to us.
8. In our current bands previous incarnation we had the JAWS tune!
9. Another for Audacity.
10. Taxi driver for quite a few gigs, orgainse the odd gig, do the PA mixing during the gig.
11.
If you make a pigs bollock of the 1st 10 seconds, by all means, call a halt and start again, make a joke of it, but once you're in and going then keep going to the end,
+1 for this. Been there & got the T-Shirt.
12. It's an original late 80's Charvel before they were called Jackson. It's the 2B passive model with bolt on neck. Similar to mine but I have installed actives. Plays a treat.
13. We always have a few and keep changing them. Currently listening to the first 2 Stereophonics albums.
14. Welcome to the club. My EBMM 2 band eq Ray is still my go to bass.
15. There is plenty of Bowie on the box at the moment. Seen some great programmes recently.
16. This video has been posted before. I like it. The bass player is the guitarist who swaps with Gail Ann Dorsey for this song.
17. Never heard of Chordify, but sounds interesting & legal. IME all the official tab & notation books are far superior to almost all uploaded tabs.
18. I have only used an OC2 & the Ashdown octaver. IME a lot depends on the bass. Passive basses seem to track better. When using my Ray I will play further up the neck to help out. Any other passive vs active comments?
19. Come back to this thread after posting and reading later comments. In my post case my TE head will only send the effects loop through the post not pre. If you have effects and need them FOH then make sure they are in the signal chain that goes that way. Last time the engineer wanted pre I got rid of my effects loop and ran them into the amp input.
20. Post for our band PA as I have worked hard to get my sound right. I will then give it a tweek if needed FOH. If playing a venue with an engineer and another PA rig I would give him the option of either.
21. I do some backing vocals, but struggle to talk much at all if I try. I have fiddle with mixer sometimes, but only if I'm playing an open string or have a suitable gap.
22. Everything will need to go through the PA. Your amp should be ok as a back line. A 5K rig at least should be ok. Good monitors with plenty of power and 3 mixes would be good. A decent PA company should be approached by the event organisers who will suggest what rig to use. Give them your requirements such as line up for instruments vocals and monitor mixes. Good luck with it, outdoor gigs are a blast.
23. Well done. First April Fool joke I have seen today.
24. The 2 cabs give some options if you don't want the full on monolithic stack.
25. Status Quo are still going strong.
