1. Good to hear what sounds like what might have been an expensive repair was a cheap easy fix.
2. I am suffering with pain in both my thumbs at the moment. I have put mine down to the fact that recently I have been lifting some 8x4 sheets of plywood edge on using my fingers and thumb in a vice like grip and have probably strained them.
3. Two beautiful moggies.
4. My ones from Specsavers were Elacin ER25's.
5. Where are all the Warwicks? I am hogging three of them right here.
6. Link hopefully fixed. The amp is a Reuther ST 240,
7. I was recently given a non working guitar combo, one of these http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/reuther-st-240-stereo-amp-german-made-955604578 Reuther ST240 Stereo Amplifier. What I have discovered is the tip is not making contact in any of the input sockets. I have removed one and opened it up and what appears to be the tip contact does not touch the tip on a standard jack plug. This is an oldish amp, where there any other type of plug available then? The tip contact is that tiny pip you can see in the first picture. I have replaced one of the inputjacks that was not pcb mounted with a standard socket and the amp performs ok. Replacing all the sockets is a no go.
8. Gibson used this method on a Thunderbird, retaining both volume controls. Edited to add this..
9. How do you convert a 2X10 12Ω cab to 4Ω with just a wiring loom, is it magic cable?
10. When faced with what filters to get I based my decision on the fact I was getting them because I was never happy with the various make ER17/20 universal plugs I had been using. I went for the ER25 filters and have not regretted it, either as a player or a punter.
11.
good opportunity to show mine off I think! 1985 - one of the super early ones with the short horn.
Love that short horn, I wonder if it is possible to retro one of mine. Are those switches on the pickups, what do they do?
12. How is the intro counted in on this. I am thinking 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 and come in on the 7. I say this because in the 4th bar there appears to be a 9th beat (which is causing some confusion with the guitar player and drummer when I play it). Or, am I hearing it all wrong. What is your take on it.
13. Mid 70's I was in a band with two drummers, different styles complimented each other. https://soundcloud.com/james-inglis-934110996/good-time-wildlife-1975
14. It says in the info for the Aria it has 4 strings, I can only see 3.
15. I have just acquired a pair of 8Ω Carlsbro PA cabs (15" + horn) to use at a jam night*, the problem is they are only 150W and my power amp (Behringer EP2500 "says" 750W @4Ω. I am linking the two cabs in parallel from one channel and obviously I am worried about overpowering them, listening for any harsh noise or distortion when setting the output level. I was thinking I could link these two cabs together in series giving me 16Ω and therefore get less power from that channel but then wondered whether that would still be ok with the horn and any crossover/filter they may have. *This is not a freebie gig, the house band are paid.
16. I'm having the same problem with IE11, just get this... (above is a .jpg not a video)
17.
Don't buy the Duracell from the £1 shop .
Agree. They can be got for a far better price in the 99p store.
18. Ok, so they are replacements then. I'll check the date using that code. They all test ok using a test sound source, won't be able to fire them up properly till the weekend. How the bins are likely to respond with those drivers in will be interesting. Thanks BOTB & BF for the info.
19. I have just acquired these from a premises about to be demolished. The only info I can find on the minibins are that they are '70/'80s 100w disco speakers. On looking inside I found they had Eminence Delta 15A speakers with no power rating on them. Looking online they check out at 400w rms. They may not be the original speakers or were there 100w Eminence Delta speakers at one time?
20. I use one of the old Kickback 15s on smaller gigs. I also use it on a jam night I do where It holds its own, never has anyone said it is not loud enough, sometimes I'm having to turn it down. Two other bass players have bought one after using mine on the jam night. Bought it in 2001. The 15 has a 6Ω speaker.
21. I've set mine so the strings have the same spacing (17mm) between them, the centres are all different.
22. Haven't bought one for years. I have over 50 unopened reminders to give back to "The Man" when he calls.
23. Jammy B******, all I got was a Pizza flyer and a TV licence reminder.
24. The Artec mudbuckers were in the 30kΩ range similar to the original Gibson ones. I purchased one but it did not sound the same. They also had 4 magnets on. Mine were in the wrong orientation, I corrected them but they still never had that massive mudbucker sound. I never got around to trying it with just two magnets on, something I may try later now it is on my mind.
25. Damn! I wish I would have waited now.
