My '91 Thumb Bass has always had a very low action, could be considered too low but it never gave me any problems. I never had cause to adjust anything other than the nut and the bridge when I first bought it new and set it up to suit me. Last night I did a stand in gig with a band that tuned to E flat, I did that but felt there was some slight buzzing from the lower tension strings. The neck relief appeared not to have changed so this morning I thought I would relieve a bit of tension on the truss rod. The head on the rod felt slack, could easy turn a quarter each way without feeling tight. Turning it over half a turn anti-clockwise it tightened up, turning it clockwise felt like it was just loosening it. I watched the Warwick video on replacing the truss rod and decided to remove it to inspect it. It is the one way aluminium rod. On looking at the way it worked turning it anti-clockwise tensioned the rod. So the thing is, there was originally no tension on the rod and there was very little relief on the neck with 45-105 strings on, shows how strong the neck is, but I need a bit of front bow. The question is, could I install the rod the opposite way around so tensioning it would increase the relief?

Received from Andertons yesterday. 'Unfortunately the supplier of the Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro Bass in Vinage Sunburst (Stockcode EBTVTSNH1) is still unable to offer us an estimated delivery date and so we are unable to give you an accurate time frame for your order. We are regularly contacting the suppliers to find out if there is any new information and will keep you informed of any update.' -

Andertons and G4M now giving December delivery dates. -
I first came across Percy Jones playing weekly in O'Connors Tavern with The Liverpool Scene in '68/'69. He was jaw-dropping then. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gmpQC2BNfg
I received the Epi T-Bird case I ordered from Amazon last week for my Classic IV. It was the tapered version, not the rectangular.
I wonder why the change. Could it be that the rectangular case did not fit all the Thunderbird models (sure I read this somewhere) and the new one does? -

Epiphone 940-ETBCS Thunderbird case. Googling for pictures shows two versions of this case, one rectangular the other tapered. Which is the current version? -

Also make sure they are 9.6v, earlier ones were 7.2v and 8.4v. Some equipment cuts off when the voltage drops below 7v, that is why rechargeables were not recommended at one time.

I have some Uniross Hybrio PP3 batteries but they don't seem to last long. I think it may be down to the charger I have not giving them a full charge.
Official word from Epiphone. http://www.epiphone....e-PRO-Bass.aspx
On checking the dealer network my local outlet is Dawsons. An enquiry to Dawsons returned this...
Unfortunately it doesn't look like we will be getting a shipment in of those off Gibson however, we could order one in for you but delivery could take several months.
I remember back when I was trying to get an Epi Elitist EB3 and a lot of dealers had never heard of them. I found the UK distibutor at the time were Rossetti and a call to them said they only got 4 and were getting no more. The dealers who they sent them to had sold them but I ended up managing to get one from Music 123 in the USA. Does anyone know who is the Epiphone/Gibson UK distributor. Does anyone know of any dealers hoping to get any in. Also my experience of getting a shop to order one has usually been at full retail price. I know it is early days yet. -
I like to think of the bass like the left hand on a piano accompanying the right hand. I like to hear it doing it's job, not overplayed or too sparse, playing just enough to make the song sound good. From my favourite player... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2aPAqvp2Mw

I had what I thought was a similar problem when I got a Thumb Bass with 3 band eq., already owning a 2 band model. It turned out I had the frequency range that it boosted (8khz I think) cut on my amp.

I had always had good service from Stringbusters. My last order and next day delivery was in January, it was for the last set of LaBella M42S short scale strings. I have been checking frequently but they are always showing 'out of stock'. It is a pity as they were the only place I have been able to obtain them, unless someone knows different.

Who is responsible for any after sales problems that may occur, does the shop refund the money or do they refer the buyer on to the previous owner?

Why is there nothing about this bass on Epiphone's website yet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgRqxgtaQ8g Any info on UK dealers stocking it, or prices?

I have never been a dancer. Although I like some music it does not really make me want to move other than tap my foot or nod my head in time. I have always been more of a listener. I never got the rudiments of dancing book, I never knew when to start pointing at things in the air, turn your head from side to side as if looking over your shoulder while mouthing an 'ooh'. When I am on stage playing I look at people dancing and wonder what it is that makes them do funny movements with their hands as if casting a spell, or moving their feet as if there is some worked out choreography going on. I know it is just me.

Great TV Theme tunes and Credit to them Bass players.

I remember watching this series when it was first on, I don't think it was ever repeated and I would love to watch it again. From what I can remember most of the incidental music was just double bass. Though I could be wrong. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cNg-EAHCP4
