I have never been a dancer. Although I like some music it does not really make me want to move other than tap my foot or nod my head in time. I have always been more of a listener. I never got the rudiments of dancing book, I never knew when to start pointing at things in the air, turn your head from side to side as if looking over your shoulder while mouthing an 'ooh'. When I am on stage playing I look at people dancing and wonder what it is that makes them do funny movements with their hands as if casting a spell, or moving their feet as if there is some worked out choreography going on. I know it is just me.

I remember watching this series when it was first on, I don't think it was ever repeated and I would love to watch it again. From what I can remember most of the incidental music was just double bass. Though I could be wrong. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cNg-EAHCP4 -
Hercules are to be congratulated for their service policy. I have had a satisfactory result with mine.
Due to drop in the next month or so but still no sign online...
I am surprised that there has been no mention on Epi's site. Maybe they have sold out to pre-orders so there is no point in advertising something they have no stock of. I remember when I heard about Epi's Elite EB3 I called Rossetti who were the UK importers and they said they only got 4 and they had gone, and they were getting no more. -
Noticed my Hercules stand was not locking and on examination found the plastic around where the roll pin goes into the trigger had split. The spring seems to be too strong putting too much pressure here and the holes being so close to the edge don't help. Have contacted them to see if this part is available as a spare. Just buy the ready tuned strings in E A D & G, put them on, tighten up and you're good to go. I have found a lot of these strings are not in tune when you buy them though.
My bass was in tune when I bought it . That does me.
So was mine, though I am thinking of removing the ears from the tuners so they can't get accidently knocked.

Tinnitus in my left ear started soon after I had microsuction to remove earwax. Related or coincidental, who knows? Had it for a few years now but I find that I can ignore it and it has not got any worse. I do now use moulded earplugs with 25db filters and find I don't have the wax build up that I used to have. Wish I had gone for them long ago but then don't we all.
Banging a Fender logo on a bass to invite confidence is a lie. It's deception. Whether you sell it or not. It's the intention of making people think it's a Fender. It's brand snobbery enablism.
I have banged a logo on a £99.00 bass I use for the house bass at a jam night. The only snobbery is those wanting to play it instead of their own bass. When they have commented on how good it is I tell them it is a Dawsons own brand of Redwood. I don't gig with it myself. I have never had a Fender bass or have any interest in owning one.

Am I wrong in wanting to learn the set/songs properly?
goingdownslow replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
I ask them to play the tune start to finish on their own. If there are sections in the tune where they dont play they should be able to tap their foot and come back in where appropriate. If they cant do that, they haven't learnt the tune. Full stop.
What would be their punishment, Sir, 40 lashes with a 105 roundwound or write out the tab 100 times? -
After seeing players snub cheap basses I put a Fender decal on the £99.00 Redwood JB1 Jazz Bass (Dawsons) I use as the house bass for the jam nights I host. Players are made up to use it. It sounds better than some of the Fenders others players have brought along. It has 'Made In China' on the back of the headstock. What can be wrong with that? I've never owned a Fender either. I had them retro fitted to a Warwick Thumb Bass 17 years ago, first class job, no sign of how it is done. Battery life (2 x PP3s) is that long I forget about them. Batteries went in the control cavity. Although it says 'side leds' mine are only fibre optics from the fingerboard one. Has anyone else noticed that?

I put a screwdriver through my speaker. Stop laughing.

Another vote for using something flexible like copydex. I seem to remember using rubber solution, as used for fixing punctures, to repair something similar years ago. -

80's brands that tried to kill your bass playing.

I remember doing a gig with a backline of Miles Platting rigs that were a wall of sh*te, they looked like they were covered in wood grain sticky backed vinyl. Edit - Ha ha, I wasn't on drugs... http://www.tonegeek.com/musicgear/amps/miles-platting-amp.php -
Recently I put new strings on my EB3 and last night, after not having played it for a while, noticed I was getting a fret buzz on the G string for quite a way up the neck. Raising the saddle, even to higher than the D string, was not curing it so I thought it must be something else. I noticed it buzzed only when the string was plucked with my index finger and was ok with my middle finger. I was making sure I was plucking evenly with each. The conclusion I eventually reached was that although I try to keep my nails short the index fingernail was clicking the string, as after filing it down the fret buzz had gone. How that works I don't know.

To stop the neck dive when playing my EB3 (shorty) I pass the strap under my belt. This will also help stop trousers from hanging down on those with no arse to keep them up.

The side 'lights' on my Sims fitted Leds are only fibre optic.

Andy Fraser. Don't know why my ears tuned on to him and not the likes of Entwistle, Squire or John Paul Jones who I also must have heard playing. Maybe it was just the whole sound of Free.
with excellent guitarists, Geoff Whitehorn (Back Street Crawler & Procol Harum) first, secondly Howard Leese (Heart), not quite Kossoff but very close.
The reason they are 'not quite Kossoff' is their use of effects. Effects will never give you the sound of Free.
