1. Thanks for the replies. The strings did look awkward coming over the nut giving a high action over the first few frets. I have lowered the slots in the nut whilst also filing them to match the angle of the headstock which has cured the problem. Getting .022" at 1st fret.
2. I have just put a set of D'Addario short scale 45-100 strings on my Epiphone Elitist EB3 replacing the Elites 45-105 (no longer available) which I've had on for a very long time as I have not been able to find a reasonably priced set of 45-105s. My problem is although open tuning and intonation is ok they are off (sharp) over the first few frets, most noticable when playing octaves. I put the old strings back on and they are ok. My head is like a ball of chalk. What gives?
3.
What if the earth lead is taken off,
Tampering with saftey equipment?
or the earth lift switch put into operation to prevent hum when used with a lighting rig?
only removes the earth from the circuitry, not the chassis/case.
4.
1.4K seems very low for any pickup resistance. Sure it isn't 14K?
Apparently that is what they are nowadays, nowhere near the 30k of old. I have a couple that are circa 1.2k
5. There are a couple of live recordings of Cozy and Jack Bruce which contain Tickets To Waterfalls on sugarmegs if you search for Cozy Powell http://tela.sugarmegs.org/
6. I am considering a Hipshot Supertone replacement for this Epi 3 point bridge but wonder if there would be enough clearance with the tone knob as the Hipshot looks a bit chunky around there.
7. I play a Warwick Thumb Bass and Epiphone Elite EB3. The Epi Elite doesn't have a brushpole neck like the regular SS Epiphones or Gibson SG Reissue bass, so I find there is plenty of room.
8. It has been especially formulated for use on Thunder Glide Bass strings.
9. So if you sound sh*t you can't blame the sound engineer or the equipment or the venue, it is just you. I've seen the same players sound sh*t in some venues and sound good in others, why do they play like that?
10.
According to Clapton's autobiography, having had previous with Baker, had he known Bruce was bringing him in for Cream, he'd have backed out - but he only found out after it was arranged. G.

In 1966, Clapton met Ginger Baker, then the leader of the Graham Bond Organisation, which at one point featured Jack Bruce on bass guitar, harmonica and piano. Baker felt stifled in the Graham Bond Organisation and had grown tired of Graham Bond's drug addictions and bouts of mental instability. "I had always liked Ginger", explained Clapton. "Ginger had come to see me play with the Bluesbreakers. After the gig he drove me back to London in his Rover. I was very impressed with his car and driving. He was telling me that he wanted to start a band, and I had been thinking about it too. Each was impressed with the other's playing abilities, prompting Baker to ask Clapton to join his new, then-unnamed group. Clapton immediately agreed, on the condition that Baker hire Bruce as the group's bassist;[sup] [/sup]according to Clapton, Baker was so surprised at the suggestion that he almost crashed the car.
11.
I keep getting mails about my Travis Bean Fretless from Mick Karn wannabees, it took me 10 years to track one down then I am expected to consider a few hundred for it....... Please tell me I am not the only one chaps and chapesses!
No you are not the only one, as you have already found out there are many Mick Karn wannabees out there.
12. Surprised no one has mentioned Moondance...
13. Always blowing his own trumpet. R.I.P. Kenny.
14. Mono or stereo socket? Have you used the correct replacement?
15. I'm glad thats over, I feel as if I have been out since last year.
16. Some years ago I bought this from Asda... I found it great for cleaning my Warwicks. I recently recommended it to a friend who has not managed to get it anywhere. Having a look around myself, the supermarkets don't seem to have this type of polish anymore, mainly stocking aerosols. Seems to be available from the States but postage charges are more than the cost. I paid around £3.00 for this. Has anyone seen any shops selling this product.
17. I can't work out what paying the taxi fare for your missus to get to and from work has to do with it. Make her get a bus or walk.
18. After getting to the gig car park tonight a little late and wondering why I was first there, I got a call from one of the other band members asking if I was ok. It turned out I had selected the wrong gig from the recent destinations tab on my satnav. I was lucky it was only 18 miles from where I should have been and I got there about 15 minutes before we were due to start. First time in all my years I have done that.
19.
Basically, if you unscrew the jack and see two equal cables in different colored sleeves, thats a speaker cable, if its a middle one in a sleeve and a bunched up one that spreads to surround the one going into the cable proper, that's an instrument one.
So what is this
20.
in a 25" x 12" room
A lot of compression there... .
21.
well, no they don't - the more emissions, the more damage they are causing. The great advantage of fuel tax is that it makes the biggest polluters pay the most.
But they are still using the road that has to be paid for. The biggest polluters are already paying by having to buy more petrol to polute with.
22. Just a reminder that the car tax banding was brought in by a Labour government. Since they did that I now only tax and insure my MX5 for 6 months and then SORN it. Last year the tax was £143 for 6 months and I did less than 800 miles. Some cars pay no road tax and do 1000s of miles. It's staying in the garage this year as I can't afford/justify it.
