1. If i hated a crowd, my set list would be: 1. Metal Machine Music, Parts 1 and 2. 2. 4'33" 3. Metal Machine Music, Part 3. 4. Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Old Oak Tree. 5. Uruguayan national anthem, played at 1/2 speed. 6. Metal Machine Music, Part 4, twice.
2.
Given that both buyer nd seller have now contributed to this thread I feel that there should be no further judicial comments posted. Both parties should be left to sort this out in a frindly, mature fasion. Not by this forum. The sale was generated innitially via ebay and concluded privately. Not via this forum. Thank you.
Many thanks to those who completely failed to heed this reasonable request.
3. Gents, this thread seems to have turned into a massive bitchfest. As it stands, it's of no relevance to the OP whatsoever. So please, let's have some sensible discussion and advice without the playground tongue-poking or the near-defamatory slagging. Ok?
4. Harry, I don't want to put temptation in your way, but you could always link your credit card to a paypal account...
5. The Specials' eponymous first album. Once Around The World, It Bites. Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds. Scenes From A Memory, Dream Theater.
6. Stop it, all of you. I tried a Portamento a while back, it was glorious and I have spent every moment since then telling myself that I don't need one. You're not helping.
7. Part of the Dutch review (Google's translation, not mine): "Negative points: poor tuners Out-stinging fret ends creaking preamp Crude unfinished frets The neck needs a shim of at least 2 mm in order to achieve a reasonable action. plusses Excellent balance, sitting or standing. Fine paintwork on the body. After solving all the more points you have a fine bass playing, for me no problem, but, in a new instrument must not do. Too bad, a huge setback."
8. Unlocked at seller's request.
Status Streamline 4 string for sale. There is one very small scuff on the underside rear of the neck which isn't visible when wearing the bass or front out front. I've highlighted this in one of the additional pictures that are available via the following link: http://s592.photobuc...e?sort=2&page=1
9. Am I reading this wrong, or is the burden still very much on the venue to mask their noise (at considerable or even, as often in the past, bankrupting cost), rather than on the developer to cater for it in his design/construction? The phrase "appropriate mitigation" is a bit ominous.
10.
Love my Trace Elliot gear, the weight I can live with, but I really wish the power button was on the front instead of the back...
Yes, ditto this for my Genz Shuttle 6. I've got it rackmounted and the rear power switch is a monumental PITA. I love my Sire V7 but i really really wish it had one more fret. I will never understand why Leo designed the P and J with a range of E to Eb, or why so many others so slavishly copy this.
11. It's a fair trade. I don't like Noel Gallagher music.
12. I'm going to be 52 this year and I don't plan on giving up until it becomes physically impossible to play (and judging by the way the arthritis is attacking my knuckles, it might not be all that far away... ).
13.
Most people's old pee stinks...
My new pee is a bit rank too, quite frankly.
14. 2 amps (Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 and Hartke HA3500) 2 cabs (EBS Neo 212 and SWR Bass Monitor 12) Plus a beaten up old Laney DP150 head and no-name 15" wedge that I use for home practice/testing etc.
15. The Sire V7s are indeed the canine testes, but do they make lefties?
16.
I might consider using a tablet reader to practice with but only with a hardwired footswitch for page turning and an A4 (minimum) size display. I have the onset of sight impairment so would welcome the facility to rescale tab and on occasion dotted score. I can't comment on using one onstage as I have never tried it. Can you provide linkage to the system he uses please? I'd like to follow up on that later.
According to my bandmate, he uses a PageFlip Cicada -- I don't know if that model is still in production though. There are other PageFlip pedals and similar stuff from other manufacturers here.
17. Dave Swift was the highlight for me.
18.
Fenix was the brand name of Korean manufacturer Young-Chang, which was the factory which took over the Squier contract when it moved from Fujigen in Japan. Most early Fenixes were basically hot-rodded, rebranded versions of the Squiers that Young-Chang was building. Inevitably, Fender took a rather dim view of this business model (and of the Fenix name itself, apparently) & promptly took their contract elsewhere. There are suggestions that lawsuits may have been involved, and the fact that Fenix headstock shapes rapidly became a whole lot less Fender-y certainly does imply concerns over legality. Fenixes do have a reputation for good quality (as do Young-Chang Squiers) and there are some gorgeous Strat variations out there. Sadly the basses were less exotic but still very well-made.
My bestie had a Fenix PJ bass, reminiscent of a modded oly white P. It was a really nice instrument, well built and sounded great. He had to sell it and unfortunately I needed the money more than I needed another bass, so I missed out on it
19.
Nice one, love it. I have a friend who has about 25, or so, bikes. His secret? all of them are black. When he buys a new one and his wife sees it for the first time, and says "Is that new?" he says "This, nah, had it for years". All your basses need to be the same colour.
This. My mate introduced an entire new drumkit to his house by ensuring it was the same colour as his previous one.
20. Re-opened/bumped.
Up for grabs is my MIJ Steve Harris signature Precision (2009 I believe). Quite a weighty beast with a nice chunky neck that you could swing from. Here's a link to the original spec: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/fender-steve-harris-p-bass#productDetail I've upgraded the pickup to a Fender Custom Shop '62 and it sounds fantastic (I no longer have the original SPB1). If you like zingy it'll need some new strings, if not then it's fitted with some Fender 7250ML's that are approximately 6 months old. One of the original tuners was a little stiff for my liking so I replaced them all with Wilkinson equivalents. I still have the originals which will obviously be included. The screw holes etc were all the same and I left the original ferrules in place so no harm done if you wanted to swap them back. The bass does have a few knocks on the body which have been touched up by the previous owner. The main one is between the bridge and the pickup which although quite a ding, is barely noticeable as the finish of the bass does tend to hide knocks very well. There's also a small ding on the face of the headstock and 4 tiny indentations at the fourth fret beneath the D and G strings where it looks like something has pressed against it at some point. These are minor marks but I've tried to mention everything. All in all it's a very honest bass that's been used, plays and sounds great and just needs a new home. I'll also supply a cheap and cheerful non-Fender hard case. Possible trades - Barefaced Gen 3 Super Twin (Silver Cloth) I'm in South Yorkshire but as always, willing to meet up. EDIT ## PLEASE NOTE - UK buyers only please ##
21. Jon Shuker. http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk
22. One of our brass players uses one, he has one of those clever Bluetooth page turning footswitch things too. I rely on memory personally ☺
23.
Stu Hamm Urge Bass
Ohhh yes. Gimme please 😎
