I saw them in Cardiff a few years ago. Absolutely stunning in every way. Lots of wry Aussie humour, as Dave said, all underpinned with slick flawless presentation and superb musicianship. 'The Great Gig In The Sky' left not a single dry eye in the house.

I've got a Behringer BX600 combo that I bought many years ago from a fellow Basschatter for an absolute song. My son used it for a while but now it's back with me. It's the perfect practice amp, with CD and headphone sockets, and it's even loud enough to keep up with my 12-piece soul band at rehearsals.

Last night was a first. I had one bloke complain about the volume before I'd even taken my jacket off. The reason being, we've got "big speakers" and apparently they "look loud". I wasn't going to argue with him. He was Very Big Indeed and littered with EDL tattoos. Thanks to two gigs in two days, I suffered catastrophic callous failure. Blood on the strings. Ouch.

Cool. I like the idea of the semi-permanent tuner attachment. This wee thing is turning out to be a proper Swiss army knife (meant as a compliment ).

The guy on before us, Sherman Robertson, overran his slot of dreary blues to the extent that our set was about 25 minutes in the end. He knew he was eating into our time but didn't give a toss. It still makes me cross when I think about it. Sorry. As you were.

There's nothing actually wrong with the control knobs; it's all down to personal aesthetic preference. The stock tuners function acceptably and are stable enough, but they're not exactly Gotoh quality.

Sei Flamboyant 5 string -- it was a stunning instrument but I couldn't get the setup right, so in a fit of pique I sold it. What a stupid, stupid move. I should have given it to a proper luthier and got them to set it up properly, it would have been perfect then. It was beautifully made, felt great to play (apart from my crap set-up job) and the sound was to die for. I often kick myself for letting that one go. Ricky -- can't remember the model (4001?) but I'd borrowed it with a view to buying if I got on with it. It sounded great but I hated absolutely everything else about it. The ergonomics were non-existent, if I'd tried to gig it it would have crippled me and broken my ribs. Dreadful.

Just met up with Chris to buy his very nice Jaydee fretless 'Ray neck. Lovely chap, great comms beforehand and a lovely piece of kit now in my hands. Many thanks, I will definitely post those pics when it's done!

I had similar problems with my old Trantec. I had the proper rackmount plate but nothing for the aerials. In the end I made my own remote aerial kit from half a 1U blanking plate, some BNC sockets and a BNC cable off eBay, plus drilling and soldering and lots of swearing. It turned out ok in the end and worked a treat!

The Behringer BSY600 stomp gets some surprisingly good reviews too. Having said that, I was most amused by one of the reviewers on Amazon who gave it one star simply because, by his own admission, he was too lazy to work out how to use it properly!

My mate had a Fenix/Young Chang PJ 4 string. It was a fabulous bass, great build quality and sounded superb. He offered it to me for 50 quid. Like a twat, I turned it down. I cannot believe I did that. What a bellend.
