1. I bought a Schaller from this very forum. I have found it really very good - Peavey Tour 700 and Barefaced Dubster used at some volume. Sounds good to me and no feedback issues. I constructed a plywood fingerboard extension that is clipped onto the fingerboard with cable ties. The Schaller is screwed into that rather than risk fingerboard damage / issues. YMMV.
2. Owned a 371 cab in the 1970s early 80s (the one with the 18" speaker). This bring back great memories - hope it works out well.
3. One of mine has suffered the same fate as yours. As long as I change strings one at a time it stays put so I have not bothered to replace it. You may be lucky as well.
4. This may be a DMZ4000 - the pickup surround does not appear on the DMZ4001. I have a 4001 and it tends to be my bass to go. Clarity of the notes combined with no dead spots is outstanding. The DiMarzio pickup is one of the best P pickups I have encountered. Tuning stability is excellent and I have not suffered any issues with temperature changes on stage. Bump for what is an increasing rarity - unlikely to be made again.
5. Very nice colour. Now about that volume knob.... I am also in the tone control and volume to full on, so why bother camp. The sleek look will have no controls at all
6. Gorgeous looking bass.
7. Desolder one leg of the capacitor. See how the bass sounds without capacitor. (This is taking Beer of the Bass advice a step further). If it sounds ok then capacitor is wrong value. If bad sound then problem elsewhere. Where are you based - you might find someone on BC who will take a look / get soldering iron out as a favour. Do you still have earth to bridge wire? essential unless running pickups such as EMGs.
8. So disappointed, thought it would be a video or an account of a bass playing disaster, ah well.....................
9. I had one (77 P bass) from new in my youth. It was very good, had the lowest action I have ever had on a bass. Perfect construction (after neck aligned in socket - easy job). Someone will be pleased with this.
10. D'addario Chromes - the black nylon tapewound ones, (surely some contradiction there) were ok on my fretless Warwick. I just applied the usual cure - TI flats, plenty of growl when needed.
11.
A scary thought - maybe your wife thinks you've sold a bass and it's about to be posted...

she's already taken the bass and flogged it. You've been duped!
Following the leads above, you will return home to find the box missing. When you ask your wife, you be told either that it has been sold or donated to a charity shop.
12. Thanks for pic, seems to be a lot more in there than in my Corvette Next thing to start looking at / for is the circuit diagram, Warwick have these, how much detail is another matter. My best first attempt would be: unplug and replug any detachable connectors several times. Might be oxidation on contact causing poor connection (you may not have any detachable connectors - hard to see in pic). If this does not fix, next identify the treble pot connection terminals, give the wires on these these a gentle pull, if one comes off - resolder. Next follow wires back to whatever they connect into next, give them a gentle pull where they connect, if it detaches - reconnect. FWIW one of my Warwicks (Rockbass not German one) had a badly connected wire that was not picked up in manufacture. Are there any
13. Can't comment on this one but, my aluminium neck Kramer DMZ4001 has the best clarity of note on any bass I have ever owned (have done Fender, Gibbo, Ric, John Birch). It also has no dead spots. A bonus is the weight, cheaper than going to the gym and managing some neck dive strengthens the arms
14. Just had the answer to my first question, yes we have active electronics. There are several possibilities: failed capacitor, failed integrated circuit, failed potentiometer even when the other concentric one works. I suspect the most probable culprit are a failed solder joint - even if it looks good, or a very fine strand of wire causing a short circuit. Post pic of electronics please, I will then go compare with my Warwick Active and if I can will make some suggestions how to test.
15. Stunning bass and price
16. Commiserations - I did one once, it was as if I had never played bass before with songs I did not know, it was bad, very bad (no alcohol involved as mitigation either) - luckily band forgave me
17. Me neither, look at the large heat sink, listen to the silence since there is no fan. Enjoy the benefits of circuit boards with large tracks and full size components. If it goes wrong then it can be repaired at little cost. This is a steal for someone.
18. Oh my, why is Essex so far away. Having owned a fair bit of peavey kit since 1981 I agree "Much louder than contemporary amps with the same spec." .
19. Will you now be know as 'Andy' or 'Jack'? or 'Peter; (let's see who gets that last Gibson reference)
20. Vagabonds of the Western World - Thin Lizzy circa 1973 - bass tone to die for...... I have owned one, however given the current climate of R** I*** C*** am not likely to again.
21. Wonder if J Bruce (bass player of some repute) would be sacked from band for using stool. As a bass player of a similar age I understand where you are at. My saviours have been Warwick Corvettes and a Peavey milestone. They seem to weigh next to nothing and stiil sound good. Sitting down I still use Kramer Alu neck bass, but it is heavy to play standing up. Search for the lightweight bass....
