  1. Love rears its ugly head, Living colour
  2. Having been gigging with a Markbass CMD 12H combo for a while and really enjoying it;s super light weight and big sound, I decided to drag out from under the stairs the old Ampeg SVT-CL and 410 HLF that had been sulking away since before covid. To be honest I wasn't actually expecting that much of a difference as I DI into the PA as well. I nervously fired it up (I'll not lie, I'm a little terrified of it) and apart from a bit of crackle on the master pot (made me stinky poo myself), all was good. Took it to the venue (made sure it was an easy load in) and set it up. WOW WOW WOW Unbelievable tone, huge Hef...(I'll not utter that word on here) and big creamy fat that I had forgotten all about. Zeps Heartbreaker sounded the best I've ever heard me play it. Even the guitarist and singer commented on how fab it sounded. I'd love to use it on all the gigs but it's just too heavy, so maybe it'll get an airing 2 or 3 times a year but by God what a sound, absolute beast. maybe there is some truth in the difference with valves? Don't want to necessarily spark that old debate but if you ever get the chance to gig with something like this, really, give it a go.

  3. No, you're very welcome, really. But please appreciate this isn't Talkbass!
  4. A noble preamp and a cali 76 compressor!
  5. got some on my P. They were going cheap so I thought I'd give em a go. They've lasted zingy for ages. I prefer elixirs if I'm honest but these were half the price.
  6. sweet j3sus!!!
  7. yeah if the predator played bass
  8. Behringer flange pedal. They look cool as.........
  9. and i'm still in the same band!
  10. but which one would you grab in a house fire?
  11. Zoom LiveTrack L-20. Looks and acts a little like an analogue desk but also doubles up as a 20 discrete channel input DAW, recordable on usb drive, memory card or direct to laptop via usb cable. We record all our gigs and play with them later in Reaper or Harrison mixbus. Also has bluetooth to tablet for wandering about mixing. Great preamps and fx, gates, 16 standalone compressors, 3 band mid parametric eq etc.. scene setting for recalling each venue so less messing about in regular venues. 6 monitor mixes with each one an individual mix Yes I am a fanboi! only downside so far is the power supply is a bit flimsy https://zoomcorp.com/en/gb/digital-mixer-multi-track-recorders/digital-mixer-recorder/livetrak-l-20/
  12. theres a wicked Peavey TNT 130 bass combo with Black Widow 15” speaker on castors for £90 on FB marketplace, but I couldn't possibly comment on who's selling it...

  16. don't remotely suppose anyone ever managed to approximate an organ sound aka the electro harmonix B9 or C9???
  17. same here, needed a new phaser pedal and thought for the same money get a used B1four. Handy little thing.
  18. I hope so. We have 2 x 315 RCF Tops and 2 x 315 RCF wedge monitors (The same as the tops) so hoping for a decent level of clarity and punch. Everything mic'd up apart from Markbass combo which is DI.
  19. We have an 18" Mackie Thump powered sub. Frankly I've never liked it and think it sounds pants. So we have just purchased 2 of these https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/hh-hps115-active-subwoofer-1400w £350 each. No idea if they will be any good, but the price and 5 year warranty is attractive so we will be outing them next weekend. I will report back if anyone is interested.
  20. Sennheiser e935 all day long, much better than the 58 or Beta IMO
