  1. £400 would get you a decent used iMac, great screen, decent power and holds its value https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/593456492157894?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A018f4900-df4e-43b5-9057-7c1678214c22
  2. Zooms have good audio but IMO terrible video. The Chinese GoPro copies tend to (again IMO) do the opposite, good video but awful sound Never used a proper GoPro so couldn't comment on the sound quality. I sometimes use a canon 5D DSLR, amazing video and not actually bad sound (not as good as the zoom though) Everything is a compromise between audio and video. I've yet to find or afford an all in one solution. So for now, videos are recorded with cheap Chinese goPros (as Silvia mentioned, using a DSLR as well really shows up the difference against these GoPro copies so I tend not to use the canon these days) As for sound, we use a combination of stems from our new zoom livetrack L-20 (highly recommended by the way, preamps are fab) and a tiny smattering of a zoom Q2n for a little ambient crowd noise. The livetrack stems get mixed in Reaper as does the Video, so it's all relatively easy to edit in one DAW. No transferring to DaVinci resolve for example. I'll mix the stems first in reaper and render down to a master track. I've used up to 4 different cameras in some edits, running in multiple timelines along with the mastered audio, all in Reaper. Nothing fancy, just cuts between each camera. sorry....what was the original post? Went off on a bit of a ramble there! Ah yes camera for headstock with good audio and sound? Probably best to try and borrow a proper GoPro. I believe the battery may be good for 2.5 hours and the sound may be ok? What about a high end mobile phone? I imagine the recorded sound and video on an Iphone 13 would be pretty decent?
  3. https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/b-stock-albion-abh800pa-800w-power-amp does 2 x 8ohm cabs, any good? ooof just seen delivery costs!
  4. I have the Laney Digbeth. I like it. very quiet in the chain, does a nice tube gain. single mosfet or tube or blend them together if desired. XLR out to the desk. Tone Blend knob works really well, lots of options. solid as a brick Its replaced my DHA VT-EQ2 so it can't be bad. I also use a TU 3 tuner at the start of the chain for buffering.
  5. does the XR 18 have the ability to record direct to an SD card or memory stick? We had one years ago so I can't remember. We now use the Zoom L20 and that lets you record 20 separate tracks straight to SD or memory stick in the desk or via cable to your DAW.
  6. Had the standard, liked it but sold it as I never used it gigging. Toneprint variations were pretty wide and interesting. Tracked well on my passive jazz. Now I have a zoom B1Four, small footprint and loads of other effects besides an Octaver.
  7. pedalboard and IEM's at those size venues.
  8. ah ok, weirdly I just bought a mic mechanic too!
  9. I bought one for my son as he's into electronica, DJ'ing, dance music etc. I had no idea of all its capabilities! I may have to "borrow" it when he comes home next week
  10. not yet but I've only had mine a couple of weeks and I run it off a power brick. Why do you want to use batteries? Any advantages?
  11. what happens if your laptop crashes or the battery runs out? wouldn't the whole band be compromised?
  12. Rectal smegma and Brutal sphincter would be on my must see list...
  13. I got my lad the Arturia minilab. I know you don't want small keys but I believe they do larger ones as well. Apparently the keys action is better on the Arturia range ( so i saw on Youtube FWIW) He's blown away with it (he's into electronica and dance music and studying a degree in MT at Bristol uni) I gave him my old M Audio controllers and the the new Arturia and Novation stuff blows that out of the water Do any of the new controllers still have MIDI DIN? https://www.arturia.com/products#hybrid-synths

  15. when i saw your budget, the Kali LP6's were the first thing i also thought of..
  16. just bought a zoom B1 Four from Paul. What a great guy, he even posted it before I sent the money! Top communication and a very friendly transaction, highly recommended!
  17. is that recorded live? )Sounds great btw). I see the studio booth shots. Are the band miming back to a previously recorded take? Top playing
  18. yes, as above, I added another 8 GB to my 8 GB laptop in a spare slot, same RAM card/type, works fine now as 16GB. Easy and cheap to do.
