The sound on those are really good, but I found the non 4K version pretty awful as far as video quality goes. However the newer 4K versions may be better. Another advantage of those is that you can hook up a USB battery pack and record it for the whole show and not have to use stupid AA batteries. Happy Jack will know better than I about how well th 4K works in low light or stage lights, but as I said the audio is excellent and they will run the whole show not 30 minutes like most cameras. Plus with 2 you get 2 different shots so that makes it more interesting when you edit ( nobody wants to look at 1 aspect for a whole song! )

The 30 minute limit on DSLR's is a drag, however there is a way around it (although it may only work on canon cameras) I use magic Lantern softwate installed on the cameras memory card ( in my case a 64GB card in a Canon 5D mk 2) This enables the camera (amongst a whole host of other extra features) to stay on for as long as the battery allows. I use a double battery pack with the camera and if I change the batteries during the midway interval at a gig I get the whole 2 hour show on one card. That allows me to switch on and leave alone while I get on with the playing. I can't comment on the Panasonic range but I imagine the new stuff will be fantastic. For what its worth the canon 5D mk 2 with a good lens even in 1080 blows any camcorder out of the water for quality of image (think film quality if you like) and is superb under low or stage light conditions. Even the built in mic is actually very good but as others have said we also record direct from the desk these days. Your panasonic stuff will give you good pics and video but probably pants sound so factor in a field recorder (they're cheap) to capture decent sound unless you have a mixing desk capable of capturing your bands performance. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tascam-DR-05X-Portable-Audio-Recorder/dp/B07N1HGVNS/ref=asc_df_B07N1HGVNS/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310826954370&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2023319722877618593&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045324&hvtargid=pla-644764714442&psc=1&th=1&psc=1

I always thought this was pretty good..

not to derail the thread but do you use a preamp pedal with xlr Di out so you have a back up to the PA if your main amp fails? At least that way you wouldn't have to be so worried if your markbass fails at a gig or rehearsal? Iu se a Laney Digbeth with my markbass combo.

Tone? What do you think of this?

Found my old D'Addario XL chromes 50 -105's flatwounds, now on my jazz. Open E sounds great... Will take them to the next rehearsal. See if anyone notices... -
Are these flatwounds?

sorry just seen this! Im afraid it went to the great gig in the sky (via the recycling centre) -
Having had the Markbass Compressore and boss LMB 3 as well as various zoom multi pedals, Im very happy with this err *clone*, heavy as a brick, versatile and worth a punt. Haven't compared it against the original but Im impressed with it. https://www.aliexpress.com/i/1005004323116490.html

Don't think thats correct. It is a midi audio interface as well as a stomp fx box. Deffo check you have the right drivers installed unusual for a USB cable not to work but its possible its faulty. Also change the USB hub on the PC if you have more than one. And if not succesful, try uninstalling the software and reinstalling in a new usb slot.

Used the platform for the first time in anger tonight. No backline just a wedge monitor. Got lots of comments from punters and people literally coming up and putting their foot on it! Was a great sensation with the added bonus of the kick and snare going through it so locked in really tight -
Just downloaded this free amp modelling standalone or plugin. Its very guitar oriented at the moment (as usual) but I hope some more bass stuff gets added. To be honest I've found it a bit confusing but have managed to load a few things. Its quite new so feels a bit developer/geeky to a sad old fart like me. Anyone else tried it? https://github.com/sdatkinson/NeuralAmpModelerPlugin/releases

As BigRed says, T shirts are where the money is at. We sold a hundred odd cds at gigs and online, but T shirts seem to sell better and at £15 a pop (think they cost £4 each (?). Oh and a card reader has really made a difference, hardly anyone has £15 spare in cash at the end of the night, but everyone has a phone or a card.

I can't help because I've never been that lucky enough to have that problem, but good luck with the US tour, I bet it'll be amazing.

That stinks. Is one of the people getting more dosh supplying something like the PA or backline? The only reason why I could imagine someone getting a little more would be for supplying extra kit or petrol money, perhaps. We split all our gig money equally despite me and the drummer owning and paying for the PA. The guitarist changes his strings every gig so thats an expense for him. I have on occasion taken an extra fiver for me and the drummer for petrol if we've driven the others a fair old distance but thats about it. I'd certainly be asking questions as to why the Jam night guys are pocketing an extra £25 each night, that seems well excessive.

Last gig shenanigans, Got the big guns out, SVT and 410. Recorded direct from the desk ( zoom Livetrack L20) mixed and video edited in Reaper

I have an old banger 05 plate berlingo. I took out the back seats. I can fit 4 x 15" powered RCF Tops 2 x 15" powered H/H subs 1 x 410 Ampeg HLF Cab 1 x Ampeg SVT Head 2 x large boxes of leads 1 x Large Box of Lights 1 x bass hard case 1 x pedal case/board 3 x mic stands 4 x speaker stands or all the above less the 410 and the SVT head and instead a Markbass combo, orange 410 and Marshall Tube head, 1 bass and 2 guitars and 2 effects cases. Its amazing what you can squeeze in if you don't care about the interior getting trashed! Starting to feel like the Yorkshireman sketch...
