I fancy another set of elixir nanowebs but man they are pricey! Does anyone use another slightly less expensive set of coated strings they could recommend? Looking for zing and longevtivity. cheers!

I've got the LY-Rock, stacked Cali Rip off. Really heavy, chunky pedal, good quality knobs, cost about 70 quid, took an age to arrive. I really liked it but it seems to have developed a bit of noise so it's now stuck in the cupboard. I may return it to the pedalboard at a later date!

our singer goes out front while we play our sondcheck song ( currently good lovin gone bad) without vocals. She tells us what needs adjusting without prejudice (she has great ears). So once thats sorted its easy for her to come back on stage and just add her vocals to the rest of the song, basically all she needs to ensure is that she is loud enough out front and thats it. Could your vocalist/front man not do the same?

yep monitor mix first before FOH. Obvious one really but are the FOH speakers in front of the band? Feedback s something we never get these days so Im surprised that is still a thing. We mic up everything, guitar, bass, kick, snare, toms and overheads, the works. That we you have full control of what comes out in the monitors and FOH. The guitarist should have a sweet spot for his amp, one that doesn't mean volume on 11, then adjust his volume via monitor and FOH. When he inevitably asks for more volume in the monitor just smile and nod and pretend to raise his level, his brain will trick him into thinking its louder.

I got some D'Addario flatwounds probably 7 or 8 years ago for I think about 30-35 quid? Put them away but have been using them for about 6 months now. I kind of resent spending £40-50 every few months ( I was using Elixirs which I also like) so I've started using these and I've also really started appreciating Cliff Williams tone and I believe he usesd flats in the studio. Anyway Im really enjoying the feel of them and they seem to sit in the mix really well with my band. Obviously the big plus is I don't need to replace them! They seem pretty pricey now as well.

Bedec Multi Surface paint? Is it black? I use it on all sorts, wood, plastic and metal. Super handy stuff.

All good points folks. I will say that the tactile control of hardware (ie sliders and knobs) on the Livetrack has been super useful for us as we don't have a soundman and our drummer puts the console by the side of his kit. This is useful for quick adjustments to the sound once we get going if necessary, ie more vocal in the monitor, less guitar out front (the usual). We do a sound check out front with the ipad (singer does this) but theres always usually a reason to adjust once we start and the zoom does this nice and quick. We found faffing on a tablet midway through a gig was a bit of a pain/stressful. Luckily we are all apple fans so no issues with the ipad but it is daft that they haven't incorporated Android.

Zoom Live Track L-20 user here. We had the Behringer XR18 about 5 years ago, although it is a fantastic bit of kit we kept it for about 3 months and moved it on as the lack of a physical fader type consol was off putting. IMO the zoom has pretty much most of the benefits of the XR18 for our needs at least, I really like the ability to record 20 seperate tracks (stems) on an SD card straight off the console to load into my DAW for mixing.
