All good recommendations. For me it would be a used Jap Fender if you could find one in that price bracket.

Hi Phil Mansons has gone but its still a guitar shop, now specialising in rather good second hand gear. https://lifeguitars.co.uk/blogs/news/a-new-era-life-guitars-mansons -
Went into a cracking guitar shop in Ashburton, Devon yesterday and tried out a lovely overwater bass. They also had some rather nice Ukranian basses by the name of Woodstock that I'd not heard of before. Anyway TBH i had no intention of buying one but just fancied a go on something. The staff were great, very friendly. Anyhow I felt a bit guilty so ended up buying a couple of picks ( I know, miserly or what). Does anyone else feel a bit obliged to at least purchase something after trying a bass or guitar out? To be fair I've done that before in what was Mansons and ended up walking out with an Ampeg tube head!

Got an email from Lemonrock last night saying 2 gigs at a well known music pub in Plymouth had been cancelled, no explanation given. Contacted the venue and they were as surprised as I was. Asked to speak to the manager who does the bookings and was informed she had left. "under a dark cloud?" I enquired. "Possibly..." came the reply. Have now also discovered no gigs for 2024 are listed on the venues Lemonrock page. They have dozens of bands over the year 2 or 3 times a week. Pub has told everyone on FB that all gigs for 2024 will need to be reconfirmed (sounds like the bookings book has left with the ex manager) Just out of interest, could this be seen as possible vandalism of a venues business by a disgruntled former employee? Dont know the full circumstances of course but its very strange...

ok just reapplied for a new quote and got it for £59

£74.99, better but still gone up/

Just been quoted almost double my last years PLA to renew from £57 odd quid to over £98. This was Insure4Music by the way. No claims ever made (Thankfully). Anyone got a better result? 4 piece band, PLA only up to 5 million

ha ha we used to do the same, except it was hello John Got a new motor? and just when they started playing videos on a screen as well, so mid 80s I guess. The landlord got furious after a few days of this... We got barred for a week in the end! Happy Days!

My claim to fame as an extra in the origional series 🤣 I was working the summer season in Jersey back in the 80s at the Opera House, great days Weirdly they've been filming here in Torquay for the new series this week. There's a super dooper posh house that was used for some cr@ppy reality TV show a couple of years ago. I imagine its the baddies house in some upcoming episode.

What's your favourite multi effects for gigging?
skidder652003 replied to zonular's topic in Effects
Zoom B1 Four with a Laney Digbeth preamp pedal, Boss LMB3 compressor and TU3 Tuner. Totally unscientific but straight into zoom L20 desk sounds pretty good to my ears. Zoom custom patch clean and bright, Laney everything set at noon, adjust to taste. -
If I have to make the effort to learn the bloody song then so should the singer!

Ive gone down the ipad, m vave bluetooth midi switch pedal and an app called dreamfoot, the possibilities are quite exciting. So far its only cost me £75 for a used ipad mini and £30 for the pedal, the app is free. Im still experimenting with it and the garageband app togeather but im able to trigger each chord in sequence for the whole song. Stupidly I started with shine on you crazy diamond which has a stupid amount of chords but its do-able. The app has a few decent synth/organ sounds but you can blend them with all the garageband synths/sounds as well if you prefer them. I think I'll create a post with links when Im confident using it at gigs.

each to their own, not quite my tempo..

I currently use a digitech jam man stereo pedal to play background keys/drones etc with the band. Unfortunately its a little cumberson and fiddly with my clown shoes feet. So thinking of getting one of those akai mpk mini Play mk 3 keyboards with onboard sounds. Is it possible to assign for example an organ sound in the key of Gminor to one of the pads and then say Cmajor to the next one etc? Thanks

I had one, it's big innit? TBH I can't really hear much difference between comp pedals but then my hearing is really terrible and I play in a pretty loud band. As above Ovnilab is your friend. I've gone back to using my bulletproof and trusty old Boss LMB3 and its fine. If I could afford a real one ( I have a fake) I would get a Origin effects cali76.
