  1. As has been mentioned, the difficulty lies with a lack of any distinct ruling on what happened. That said, we're talking about covers bands, which are usually about providing a service for someones happy event, whilst a lot of people at that event might argue that the music and the man are separate, all it takes is for one or more people to have had a similar experience, for that film or the wider conversation to resonate with them very personally, and suddenly the band looks very insensitive, might even affect potential bookings. Ultimately, it's about timing, would I play an MJ song now? Probably not, it's incredibly fresh in peoples minds. Would I play one in a few months time when it had died down? Possibly. It's nuanced and should be considered on a gig by gig basis I think. Si
  2. One in the FS forum (I have no affiliation): Si
  3. Let me clarify, it is quantifiable when compared with each other, however the worth of that difference is totally subjective. Si
  4. This simply speaks to the ‘subjective’ thing. As I said, i’ve had Foderas next to Maruszczyks and the fit and finish is simply better on Foderas, is that worth £7000 extra? Not to you, but to someone it will be, often (not always) based on available funds. Workmanship is not quantifiable, as it’s an art, much like music. Why do some people pay £30 for a bandcamp download that is available for free? Because it’s worth that to them. If you want three basses instead of one, great, you do you. Si
  5. A better made bass. But it’s always going be totally subjective, how much that is ‘worth’ can’t be debated objectively. Si
  6. I’ve seen and played Marus and Foderas next to each other, I would rather have a Fodera . Each to their own of course. Si
  7. I do always like maxing out the options, this (with a leather gigbag) would cost you €4449 Si
  8. Arguably that's true of any studio situation......and medium/large gig. Si
  9. Difficult isn’t it, do we simply want sales people to give us what we think we want? Or, in the above example (assuming it’s accurate), someone with some knowledge to steer us in the direction we actually want to be in, Ie “I love Zender’s recorded tone, sell me a Warwick”, “oh he played a Precision in the studio”....... Si
  10. First ever bass line I learned was a song called 'Frank Sinatra' by the band Cake. Still a favourite Si
  11. I suspect there’s much more of the interview/lesson available to the paid membership. Si
  12. Sometimes I use it loads, sometimes not at all...depends on the context. Options innit. Si
  13. Does anyone relatively close to Hemel Hempstead have a Precision 5 string I might borrow for a couple of days?

Hey Paul, thanks very much for the offer, but yes probably a little far for the purpose. Essentially I just want to give a P5 a try on gig in London on Sunday......see if I like it compared to my 55-01 :).  But not enough to embark on a two hour round trip. Thank-you very much for the offer though :)

  14. Don’t think it’s been mentioned in the thread yet, but TB have a section of their profile setup where you declare any commercial affiliations, which then appear under your avatar. Nice little feature, but obviously works on trust that someone will use it when appropriate. See how one of my posts looks below, I’ve highlighted the feature: Si
  15. La Bella 760FS for me, all day every day. Si
  16. So they can easy go between the bass in the video, not have to keep taking it off. Makes sense Si
  17. I think it looks fantastic, simplicity and function. The first 50 sold out on their website in like 2 hours or something. Si
  18. Lol, you make an exception to give yourself more work? Si
  19. I’d say so....it’s extreme maintenance?! Lol Plus guitars are silly soooo..... Si
  20. As many have mentions, 'classic' synth sounds can be achieved with cheap gated fuzz, envelope filter & octave down pedals. Other than that, for a one pedal solution, quite frankly I've not heard better than the Meris Enzo Si
  21. I think that's what they call a 'binge relapse' 😂 Si
  22. Oh quite, my mildly flippant remark only works in the ‘lost’ scenario. Si
  23. That said, if it’s lost, say it’s in a hard case and claim.....if they find it and it’s not.....well they’ve found it 😂 Si
  24. Don’t worry, the Basschat Podcast will be back soon!! Couple of weeks :)

  25. Don't worry, I'm not a monster! 😆 Si
