  1. John Mayer - Where the light is Tedeschi Trucks Band - Live from the fox Oakland John Mayer Trio - Try! Snarky Puppy - Live from the Royal Albert Hall Vulfpeck - Madison Square Gardens Janek Gwizdala - Live at the 55 Bar
  2. At that price I would buy it, looks like a lovely bass, and I would imagine you could get most of your money back when selling if it doesn't work out.
  3. Amazon will be the fastest, but I'm always doubtful of the authenticity of the strings. Strings direct is another option for you.
  4. I remember TM Stevens being on the cover of the first bass guitar magazine I ever got. I was 16 and thought that his Cort was super cool. I also remember learning New Born by Muse from that same magazine.
  5. Her album Petals for Armor is full of incredible bass playing. I hadn't really heard of her or paramore before, but with all the chat going around the interweb about the royalties & song writing credits etc I heard the name, and have to admit I really like her solo stuff, and I'm enjoying paramore too.
  6. I came across this, and I was blown away by the bass playing. Enjoy.
  7. I agree with this, especially the 2nd half of the album. I think Venice Queen is one of my favourite RHCP songs. I also saw them live twice during this period and they were incredible both times!
  8. Californication was the sound track to my teen years, so I'm biased but I think it's a really good album. Watching the beastie boys story on Apple TV gave an interesting perspective on Rick Rubin.
  9. https://rookierockstars.org.uk/donate/ This is a small charity in the Glasgow area, they give cheap lessons to kids, and also have a charity shop that sells instruments etc to go towards the charity. I don't know if this is too far away for you.
  10. Get yourself an hx stomp, and it should sort you out for a while.
  11. Get as much Dua Lipa in the set as you can, definately Don't start now & levitate. I would also say Fireworks by Katy Perry, and Toxic by Britney Spears. I also agree with Pink, raise your glass is a great party band song.
  12. This is a seriously nice bass, far too tastefull for this gig...
  13. I have just seen that I would be better splitting all the signals before the go into the iem mixer. Which makes sense.
  14. Has anyone used an XR18 or the like to run their bands IEM mixes, then run the 2 main XLR outs to the main PA? Does this work? Or is there any other way to do this? Basically I am thinking running 2 kempers, a Helix, Roland SPD, vocal mics and drum mics through the mixer, then send the aux outs to each IEM, and the main outs to the rehearsal studio / venue PA? Any help or input would be appreciated.
  15. I know how you feel with the high C, so many brands have really light gauge C's, Warwick had 0.25, I'm sure D'addario had 0.30, I always found I preferred 0.32 that Dunlop used. Then a got a 4 string that I really gelled with and I lost interest in the 5 string with the high C.
  16. I often get tempted to offload my highend gear and buy more modest equipment. It always passes, but sometimes the mood takes me that I don't need thousands of £'s of gear. Luckily my wife always tells me to stop being silly and that I have worked hard to have nice things. But then I see stories like this and the loop starts all over...
  17. I have heard great things about this pedal! Shame I've just bought a dark glass harmonic booster, I've got no more room on the board.
  18. It's not alpha omega, but I would highly recommend following Neural DSP on the socials and buy the dark glass plugin when it's on offer. It's an amazon plugin and you tend to be able to get it heavily discounted quite often.
  19. This would work, I would probably just take a DI out of your amp and not use the cab, given he is using an electric kit. Also no real need for a mixer, as long as you have an audio interface with 2 inputs your DAW could be the mixer. Also if your interface has more than 2 outputs you could technically ditch the headphone amp, and set up different sends from your DAW and both control your own mix straight from the DAW.
  20. The guys in the bass department of guitar guitar Glasgow are absolutely top notch. When trying a cab a few years ago they didn't have any basses with flats on them, so he went and got his own 73' P bass from the back for me to use. What a dude! I spent over a grand that day on the cab and pedals, and it was all down to his great service.
  21. I don't think that's what the spirit of what people are saying is. Once you are in the band and writing material of course I would expect to write my own parts and contribute to the song as a whole. However when joining an established band I wouldn't want to go in and change already written parts, especially not at an audition.
  22. My take on this would be do both. I was in this position 4 years ago when I joined my current band. During my audition I played it note for note on the first run through of the set, the band were clearly impressed that I could do this, then when I had that start of a relationship I asked if we could do a 2nd run through and said to them I can put a bit more of myself as a musician into this set.
