  1. Yes, my whole point through out this thread about royal blood is that the guitar is a much more suitable instrument to use for his purposes than bass. But as I have also said its only my opinion. In my opinion he is playing guitar riffs on bass, and trying to make the bass sound like a guitar and a bass, which furthers the stereotype that bass is easier than guitar.
  2. This is true and you are right there are many other bassists who play the bass like its a guitar, but they don't also try to make it sound like a guitar also, by shifting it up and octave and applying many other guitar effects.
  3. I understand where you are coming from, let me explain my view on this band. One of the biggest stereotypes we have as bassists is that we play it because we are failed guitarists, or that it's an easier instrument to play with less strings. Now my view is that he is in general playing the bass as if it was a guitar. Before everyone rushes to slate me, its only my opinion and I'm more than happy to accept that I'm probably wrong.
  4. Not to derail the thread but let's be honest that guy would be much better off playing guitar.
  5. Try to frame that in a different way. Try to think of it as you get to perform from the comfort of your own home, and chat in a place that feels comfortable and natural to you. It also means you will have all your own gear, and you are more in control of the environment and situation in general. Also you can put a picture of the circle of 5th somewhere only you can see 😎
  6. Yup totally crap no matter what way you look at it.
  7. Perhaps time to invest in a kemper? You will be able to get the Mesa tone with all the flexibility you could ever dream of.
  8. Really sorry to hear this Dave. Sounds like a great job from Andertons and a pretty shamefull business decision from Mesa / Gibson. Customer service rule no1 should be fulfil outstanding orders. Don't think I will be buying anything Mesa anytime soon.
  9. There's a couple of different fingerings for the intro that might help to get the speed. For the attack play on the bridge Pick up and really hit the strings as hard as you can especially in the chorus. I love playing along to that whole album it gives my fingers and proper work out as you really have to dig in to get close to Timmy C's tone. SBL have a great YouTube video on The first Rage album, Ian really shows you how to go about getting that monster tone. Good luck and have fun!
  10. Snarky Puppy Bob Reynolds KC Roberts & the live revolution Pino Palladino If I find a independent or small label artist I will buy the CD then listen to it on Spotify just for ease. I only have Sonos in the house, but I will buy the album anyway to help support the artist.
  11. We could be called whatever we want as soon as people hear bass guitar folk have stopped listening 😂
  12. Looks great! Always nice to get a bargain. Enjoy!
  13. Very good point here. Think of it like gain staging. Start with the onboard preamp pretty close to flat, then make the EQ and drive adjustments along the signal chain. This will give you the opportunity to go from pretty clean to filthy as you like. Also same with how present your mids are.
  14. With most amps yes, you can go in through the effects return. However on some amps it will also bypass the volume control meaning you have to control the volume before it gets to the amp.
  15. I guess the truth here is yes, like had already been mentioned you could run out of headroom. But the other truth is that the tone capsule is also a preamp just not in pedal form so would have the same effect.
  16. Good decision, another route to go, instead of the tone capsule, you could use any of the darkglass pedals as a preamp. There is the harmonic booster which is closest to a clean preamp like the tone capsule but with more tonal variety.
  17. Dingwall make one, I had 2 of them in one of my Alphers.
  18. I had a RH212 it was a great cab, I also had a RH210 which was also great. I got rid of my TC Electronic stuff due to GAS for several different amps, but in truth it's great gear and with hindsight I should probably have kept it and saved myself a lot of money.
  19. This is a massive deal for anyone looking for a new amp. It's an older model but what a great deal for a quality amp.
  20. The guys at Alpher use Tdog Customs, all the work looks top notch.
  21. Has to be done on a Bongo then eh 😂
  22. HiYup, being in a band is in general tough, and emotionally draining at times. Not having gigs to fill up the tanks is making it harder than ever. The band I am in just now is the best band I have been a part of. One interesting thing is that none of us knew each other at all before starting the band, it all came together through chance meetings and Facebook groups. The upside is that there was no personal history coming into the band, and actually we have all become really good friends over the 5 years of the band. We just released our debut album, if anyone fancies a listen. https://open.spotify.com/album/0Uo1yFOs4C5WPFhvh0QySO?si=6Z3wEeE2TYaIEX1rlaX0eg&utm_source=copy-link&dl_branch=1
  23. Oft I don't see anyone beating that...
  24. I can beat the 7 hours round trip trade when I drove to do a trade with @Kev Glasgow to roughly Coventry I think it was a 12 hours round trip from what I remember. Totally worth it though, it started my love affair with Alphers.
