@lowdown just answered this question way better than I ever could.

In the middle of last year I made a decision to choose one of my basses to keep in my music room the the rest I sold or put into storage. This meant I spent all my time playing rather than deciding what bass to play. It did wonders for my mental health as I wasn't using my mental bandwidth for anything other than playing. I didn't feel anxious about having money tied up in expensive instruments, and I got to know my main bass intimately. My touch and dynamics improved massively. Just an idea.

My take on the video is that was exactly what he was trying to do. He wasn't trying to groove on the shuffle, he was replicating the drum shuffle on the bass.

What are you listening to right now?

To be fair that's a great album, very well produced with very catchy songs. I still marvel at the fact that it's all synth bass on don't start now. I would have bet a lot of money that it was real bass at the start... Good thing I'm not a betting man. -
I don't know if anyone had put this up here before, but it's an incredible watch. Found it today and I think I have watched it atleast 10 times already.

From the videos I have watch the rotary switches worry me, they don't look like the will stand the test of time, you can see a little too side to side movement for my liking. I think I will be sticking to my helix for a while yet... -

Decent offer from GG. Free Ampeg amp.

I think I have to stand corrected on this one. Fair enough. -
Decent offer from GG. Free Ampeg amp.
Crawford13 replied to Thunderpaws's topic in General Discussion
I saw this offer and it seems a bit odd to me. People spending over 999 on a bass would most likely be wanting to use either a good quality practice amp, or run straight into a computer and use plug in's. Maybe I'm wrong... -

I have recently fallen in love with the MTD body shape. I am genuinely contemplating a 6er if I can find one.

There is a lot of minor details here that would make me believe this is not a genuine fender: 1. The sunburst contours are very crude. 2. The bridge looks cheap, it does not look like a fender bridge. 3. The skunk stripe on the neck as a lot darker than what fender skunk stripes look like. 4. You are right about the control knobs definitely not genuine fender. Too many thinks wrong here, definetely walk away.

This is very true. When I started working with a top class engineer / producer I had to change my technique quite considerably. (apparently all the slap mutes I had incorporated into my playing for years to try and sound like Flea, are actually horrendous in the mix if you are not in the RHCP.) I now try to record my practice sessions as I can feel & hear myself getting better. It also helps with not getting red light syndrome when I'm in the studio and it actually counts.

Which "Famous" bass players offer 1-2-1 online lessons?
Crawford13 replied to BadHands's topic in General Discussion
An interesting side note here should be that just because some one is famous for being a great player, it doesn't mean they will be a great teacher. But I will give another recommendation for Phil Mann (With bass in mind) I have had a few lessons and he is top notch teacher and great guy, I can't recommend highly enough. -
Never mind set list, my band have just finished tracking our debut album, which has taken a year, and now I have to learn to play it as I have forgotten it all😂

I sure hope so mate, And hopefully we still have talented support crews, and they haven't all been forced to permanently change careers in order to survive.

It is a shame, the whole live music industry has been destroyed by the lack of financial support during the pandemic. I am genuinely worried that it will take many years to recover.

Usually the boring one, standing at the back.

My way of looking at this question is, I guess bass guitar as an instrument isn't anymore or any less important than any other instrument. However the bass frequencies are crucial to making music sound full. What instrument fills that sonic range is up to the musician.

This is really good mate, clear measurable goals. I wish you all the best😎
