1. Fantastic! Hope there's some live stuff and not just mimes totp appearances.
  2. Don't sell the P bass. I speak from personal experience. No matter how good the Thumb may be, and it will do amazing things, but it will never do what the P can do.

    CURVED AIR
I think you mean Sonja Kristina - yes she still fronts the band - we are on tour in the UK April 2013 so check the website - we amy be nearer than you think, and theres a new live album out at the mo - I think this is posted to the wrong forum.. should be in the gig one I think oops.
I've got my tickets for the Beaverwood show booked already, I'll try to come over and say hello!
  4. Is it as green as the pics make out? It's got a bit of a Burns vibe to it! Very cool bass.
  5. Open to any trade offers!
  6. I would love one of these. One day, I will have one. Gorgeous to play, very unique tone - hard to describe, but as everyone else has already said, it sounds 'natural' and very honest.
  7. Fair play to Jerry.
  8.
. Metal's a funny thing because all it takes to change the category is the vocal style or the guitar tone. Imagine early Korn with death vocals. Itd be doom wouldn't it?
No.
  9.
Just read about these in this months BGM, so did a quick search. There is the regular, which has a single coil pickup, and the special, which has a humbucker at the neck, and jazz pickup at the bridge. The clip below is of the special. Just love the sound, especially on the humbucker setting. I thought I`d cured my bass gas, but that sounds soooooo nice!
You have my sympathies. I want one too.
  10.
If anyone is considering buying a new one (more likely an HCT than an Icon, which was US market only) then I'd seriously suggest that they start to monitor eBay for vintage violin basses instead. A new HCT will cost you over £500 and remains, ultimately, a Chinese copy. The vintage market peaked in 2009 and then slid badly, so you can now buy a genuine late-60's or early-70's German-made hand-built 500/1 for well under £1000. More money? Not when you take into account the likely resale value later. Same bass? Not a chance. Once you've played the real thing, no copy of a 500/1 will ever really cut it for you.
I would only want one for plonking on around the house and having never played the real thing, a Chinese copy would probably do the job. I can't begin to imagine just how ridiculous I would look playing one live!
  11. Which is the 3rd string, the A or D?
  12. I'm tempted by one of these... I originally considered on of the more expensive models (Icon?) but probably wouldn't bother for the amount I would use it.

  15.
Yeah, design is certainly a bit special. Unfortunately there are not a lot decent quality mid price 32'' basses out there so can't be too picky about the design...
'Special' is putting it mildly... Didn't realise it was a 32" scale though.
  16. Saw one hanging on the wall at Guitar Guitar but didn't try it - it looks like a complete design disaster to me.
  17. In that case it's a Q5.
  18. It's a Spector NS2000 Q5, the model that preceeded the Legend. Very similar spec though IIRC.
  19.
If you haven't seen them, watch the interviews they did for the 5.1 remixes. They're all on YouTube. They band talk very frankly about a lot of things (particularly Tony), including regret at making Epping Forest so busy. The band (bar Hackett's) hatred of After the Ordeal will make you wince. Poor Steve.
I'm sure my Dad has them - I'll have a look. I never knew they had such contempt for After The Ordeal. I think it's beautiful, particularly coming after Battle.
  20.
For me, Selling England by The Pound is the greatest prog album ever. Firth of Fith - just wow.
I would be in agreement were it not for the frankly hideous Battle of Epping Forest. Such a shame, as the rest of the album is as close to perfection as anything, and the rest of the tracks are probably Genesis' finest.
  21. I saw Re-Genesis a couple of weeks ago at the Islington Academy, and they were bloody good too, really nailing the sound. It's amusing to watch the singer too, he has the appearance of latter-day Keith Moon but he does Gabriel to a tee. I cheerfully recommend.
  22.
Yep, eagerly awaiting the outcome of this one Rick.
Seconded!
  23.
Now why do I always forget those - possibly cos I know you`ll always remember them, Ben?
Sadly I think of very little else.
