1. BEHOLD!!! (Thanks Paul5 )
2. Aww how do I post mine??
3. A belated happy birthday!!! Tom Hamilton's playing one of these with Aerosmith currently but in blue
4. The above relates to 2011. In 2007 the Gibson USA Factory was making 325 guitars a day. Just reading a thread of a guy who visited the plant is all - they've asked Mike Eldred, he only confirmed that they put out less than the above 200 Custom Shop Instruments per day (2011).
5. 200 of these are 'Custom Shop' guitars...anybody know how many Fender produces???
6. That's cool man, I'm a Carvin fan - I remember seeing these when they came out and nicer than an early 70's vintage jazz is what i heard.
7. Not that the 7.5" radius is a problem on a Tele (frets seem higher than on a strat) it's far better having the flatter 9.5" radius for playability. I have a G&L where the V neck profile is the same all along whereas the Fender American Vintage '57 Stratocaster Reissue went from a V to a C profile behind the higher frets (both very nice indeed) but which is your tele like? 8. My first guitar teacher taught me on Shergold guitars and basses...nostalgia
9. Ahh, thankyou - that's puzzled me for 8 years lol
10. Ahh, the pinnacle...does it have an active/passive switch?
11. What is the purpose of the bridge to pickup brass? Always wondered what those were!!
12. They forgot to paint them
13. Out of interest, what is the fretwire and radius on this model?
14.
I'm surprised you can even tell them apart. They're virtually identical, aren't they?
Hahaha!! I despair when I have to read anything written by this guy, but it's the picture of him that makes me flail my arms - it's like summit outta f***in' Narnia
15. He is particularly annoying in the vid, I usually like his reviews - it's that Rob Chappers (Andertons) guy that makes me want to bite into furniture
16. What's the story behind the inlay 'db'?
17. Ah I didn't know they'd been upgraded, thanks! It's gotta be handy having a Precision 5 in the recording studio, I reckon i'd need a back up for speedier playing though too - I like big necks but my hands are tiny.
18. Does anybody have one of these?? I had a craving for one a couple of years back but they seem to have been an anti climax! There's only Ed Friedland's review on youtube. I solved my craving by opting for a USA G&L L2500 - has that bass been the reason for it's lack of popularity??
19. Aww that's such a beautiful instrument, I would have kept playing if I had something this fun - I was last playing fretless/precision basses but I should have changed to DB years ago...gotta be enjoyable. Oh well!! Stratocasters for now . Good decision to keep.
20. One of the best basses I've played, if not the same one! Don't see many.
21. Error.
22.
The second one I listen to for fun. I'd like to say I do the first, but he played Bristol and I couldn't be arsed.
Hahaha, my personal favourite is Phil Minton's Feral Choir...
23. This is the worst thing I've listened to in ages, I would prefer to listen to modern music; I can't stand anything current other than Kasabian and MGMT. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=bihaL1risM0 I like Weather Report and loads of other Jazz bands but my Miles Davis double CD has dust on it - pretentious rambling if you ask me. Technical ability isn't music. Jazz is similar to prog rock for me, I find King Crimson etc fantastic but ELP is the Miles Davis of the prog rock world IMO.
24.
I have a Tangerine Pearl 5HH on order and I cannot wait!
Tried a guitar in Manchester, that finish, it's hands down gorgeous.
25. I don't mind the sound on a recording, but in my hands I don't like it at all, it's just too in your face. Precisions do the job for me, but on recordings they can be lost; I'll look to passive soapbar basses if I need anything a bit trebley. I like to keep everything smooth and funky drive on bass - Warwicks trump Musicman for that typical style IMO. EDIT: I do get on with a Musicman if there are flats on it and their ancient
