Can't go wrong with ESP, weight seems to be the only issue - they can be heavy. As mentioned above, Peavy Cirrus' are very good too - I had a USA Custom Shop model which played anything, my only dislikes were the 35" scale which i wasn't used to and i like having a passive/active switch. They are great value for money and they're light.

Yeah, I'd definately consider the Squier CV's too, can't go wrong with a P or J. However the fender stuff can lack some balls at times on stage during a band situation - that's where actives have an advantage (especially a P/J model)

AND NOW TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION!!! The Jackson will have better playability over the Dean due to the Jackson having 24 frets on a 34" scale - The Dean's 35" is usually used on 5 strings to increase tension but this can help with the lower tunings of Nu Metal. The Jackson's humbuckers are more modern/versatile but you wont be able to exact the vintage tones that a PJ setup provides on the Dean. The Jackson's Compound radius neck which will be more playable than the Dean (but the Cort's will be better still) The Dean is an active bass meaning you will need to change 9volt batteries in the back of the bass but the output will be punchier. The Jackson has passive high output pickups (no batteries) Unless your a big guy, I'd pick the Jackson of those two.

I would have said get what I started on which is a Warwick Rockbass Streamer but they were £230 8 years ago. I would recommend a Cort Action or a Yamaha RBX from experience NOT an Ibanez GSR. I'm a huge Jackson Charvel fan but I have only tried their beginner guitars which were fair - Dean I have never tried. I think you might like 80's hair metal like me if your looking to these brands, I may get a custom shop guitar from either when I return to work. Cort is your best bet in terms of playability, value for money and versatility - you can play slap style nicely on these too, beginner guitars don't usually have the sustain & depth of tone.

I've always preferred Warwicks over Musicman just cos they sound 'duller' and it's funkier but they've priced themselves well out of the market and i'm no longer interested - buy a Marleaux

I had a fretless one of these from Garbev, regretted shifting it - best bass of 30 odd!! Massively versatile (vintage tones included), super playable, no backup needed due to passive switch. The quest ends here. If I ever return to bass...no brainer. Value for money and solidly spanks a jazz no matter how old.

Your bass is at the correct price - it is actually a USA Custom Shop model. Use this ad for reference and bear in mind the seller is most likely adding 13.4% ebay & paypal fees to his sale: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2573a2919d Good luck with the sale!!

I think it looks great, i'd have to wear black with it lol *minces* but i'm a passive bass guy. I'd pay that, it's a Pedulla!!
Never been strat fan but I'm liking those squier ones with the 3 lipsticks. Think it is just a hang up from seeing too many guitards use them has put me against them.
I thought this about Precisions and Strats when I started, they are the beginner's guitar but since I owned some good ones they're my uncontested faves...and after years of funky Ibanez Destroyers and Kubickis lol
*GRIN* I bet you were just waiting for me to come with my anti-telecaster rant. I was going to be good, but there were just too many pro-tele posts for me to contain myself any longer :-)
Haha your like me, I think it's a pretty damn ugly guitar personally and hurts the rib cage (especially double bound!!) but mine sold very well - literally a week!! I associate it with punk & indie music which I can't stand. That said a rosewood tele's neck pickup sounds far better than that on a rosewood strat. I'm the other way round preferring the '62 tele over the strat and the '57 strat over a '52 tele Les Paul's have to be the best looking in this line up, I just don't like the balance and tone IMO unless the strat is old and GENUINELY relic'd

What's your heritage like out of interest? I've only just discovered this brand this year and they intrigue me - it's kinda like the Fender vs G&L thing but Gibson vs Heritage. I'm not for the Backlund, i'm not really tempted by 50's surf style guitars, only one that takes my fancy is a Danelectro Longhorn

Gotta be a Strat for me, whether vintage or super the contours are massively comfortable and it's the most expressive. I like the Les Paul to play but their tonal character is a bit monotonous & sterile. Tele's are OK sound nice with effects but it's difficult to sweeten that harsh country twang. SG's I don't even consider unless they have P90's but then crunch is the furthest you can push. Chunky soft V and U necks on Strats and Teles are fantastic with the smaller fretwires. G&L and Charvel are my personal favourites for the Strat style .

You want to look at Bravewood Guitars, the chap makes vintage fender relic'd instruments same as Nash except the necks are handmade to fit the body. If your paying up to £2k on a bolt on always make sure both parts are specifically made for eachother, otherwise you may as well keep trying out MIM Fenders until you get lucky!! Bravewood's sound great but the relic'ing looks very artificial, rub your arm on the nitro until it looks genuine otherwise it just appears speckly and crackled. The best ways to test bolt on basses is to hit the strings and feel the bottom of the guitar for resonance and also, to try pull offs on the higher frets acoustically and then check for sustain.

Have you guys been drinking? It's a Fender American Standard Jazz Bass mate, you need to wake up!! ****ing Nora...
