Has it got a bat wing body shape?

Recomend wrapping each of of the pickups in cling film, then a freezer bag over each half... to protect the windings and keep any filings off.... If its a real problem, you could always leave off the shielding plate and use screening paint...

Gonna cost £50ish n north to improve i recon, Schaller, Gotoh etc. Stick wiv what ya got... prolly same with the tuners. Try a bit of vaseline on the worm to smooth em out.} Finish... Danish Oil from Screw Fix 'No Nonsense'... £5... I've just finished my P Bitsa in it. ^ Presume a 'loop of lead' holder as well as a strap lock? -
@Geek99 about the same, maybe a mm shorter... thanks for taking the time to look. I might have a look at the Bolt and Threaded Insert option if 50mm screws prove illusive... All Good at the mo...

@Geek99 Thanks...👍 I left the plastic gasket off for a couple more mm of screw thread, and the more authentic look and screwed the neck on... but a little more thread length wouldn't go amiss for the long term..

Fitting & Wiring a Split P Pickup
PaulThePlug replied to PaulThePlug's topic in Repairs and Technical
Nope single P... Just wanted to make sure i wire for the hum cancelling and if one half is prefered for a pair of strings... Had a Google and what i thought seems to match Seymore Duncan etc... must or read it some time back... -
Bitsa Build... time to fit the pickup... So White Wire, Black Loop, Black Wire... White Hot, Black Ground? Wires to the bottom of the cavity? White Wire Half for the E and A... Black Wire Half for the D and G? Is that right? Build from bits, so not like i've forgotton or failed to take pics when pulling apart... 😉

I think i'll fit as-is to crack on a bit, Then swap out the screws when i find some... 4mm x 50mm... #8 I presume? EDIT: Had a think... I'll miss off the plastic gasket... It's about 2mm thick, so should get me another full turn of good thread... Originaly neck plates never had the gasket. But if Anyone of you Luthier Builder types have got any?

Bitsa Build.... Body is 45mm / Body Thickness at Pocket is 29mm... Pocket Depth for Neck is 16mm / Neck thickness is about 25mm inc Fretboard... Neck Screws are 45mm... So by the time the screws go through the Neck Plate, Plate Gasket and Body there is about 10mm to go in to the neck, of which the first few mm is a taper. Q. Is this enough? or do i need to try and find say 50mm / 2" screws?.. Don't want to strip out the neck. Most listings for screws or screws n plates list 45mm... Don't think the P body is overly thick at 45mm? What ya recon? Any Ideas? Shout soon as i wanna put it together! Ta Muchly...

Sanded neck n body from 400 to 3000 Still a bit of cutter burn and the Danish Oil dirtyed up the end grain... After oiling gave body n neck some Warwick Finishing Wax... End result is a little warmer finish but still natural rather than a tint or stain, and less anemic looking than when unfinished. Next... Decal 'n String Tree and Machine Heads... Pickups 'n Electrics... Then Neck On, (bit of a 'Neck Screw' issue...) Bridge On (Left the strings in the bridge...) -
