The Thin Ice - Pink Floyd

Sounds like a great project, if its just the pots, worthy of a £20 odd Kiogon PBass Loom, fret n fretboard clean, strings Winner!...
-
looking good and using good are sometimes a little different, No Dots can look great, but dots can be handy (see what i did there!) perhaps rosewood dots on mapel, to match the skunk stripe n truss plug would look nice rather than black, and maybe or mahogany or ash on rosewood... dont really like pearl or abalone of fuss, although the little snow flakes on the Harley B Acoustic look nice, but you can see the wood grain underneath so i think they are paint... so may think about taking the 3 of them off above the 12th...

^ You can get a fret foil - credit card with a slot in... or cut an old reward / loyalty card in half and tape together a fret width apart! 😉 But i tend to masking tape the whole fretboard, (hint... run a length down each edge of the neck, then go across the fretboard on to these runs... whole lot easier when it comes to removing... pull of two strips and all the across strips come off!) Then Duraglit wadding or 0000 wire wool the frets... as mentioned mask the pickup magnets... If realy tarnished i apply a thin smear wipe of Autosol chrome cleaner (halfords) this dry's blackened... them 'mop off" with a dremel, or buff of with a micro fiber... honestly, old socks! great as you can get ya hand in... Then remove the tape then lemon oil if rose wood. So Ibanez are like sheep? not Ibanezes or Ibanezez or Ibani...

...and just 'won' a Jazz Bass 38mm nut, 20 fret, slim maple neck with a flattish radius fretboard in light Vietnamese Rosewood, (make a nice change from the usual darker rosewood, and pair nicely with a light coloured natural body...) Gonna get Lemon Oil on the fretboard and Danish Oil on neck n head... Fingers crossed they are a nice fit at the neck heel... -
Prefer plain... Don't mind Dots, or small equivalent... Don't really like blocks, but Fancy isn't me.

Antoria P Bass: Pickup rewind or replace?
PaulThePlug replied to Bassfingers's topic in Bass Guitars
Wiring harness... @KiOgon is ya man on here... I have just ordered one for a P Build... Recommend ya drop him a line...Lots of happy Basschaters have his looms... Pickup... The 'bay shows a '1PC Bass Guitar Pickup for Bass Guitar Replacement Accessory Parts'... anything like the dimensions?.. could get ya going for a tenner!.. Or maybe squeeze something 'MusicMan-esq' in if the rout under the plate allows... -
Nice... and i hope ya back is on the mend... Kmise neck? What are they like? Was looking at them, a jazz 38mm for my P Build, but they are 21 fret on an overhang, and still look a little longer than a 20 to the heel. Can you get a Fender P / J headstock out of the original shape, or just a tele?
-
^ but might end up down the gold hardware route, which clashes with the frets n strings.

Just been in to my Yongest's Son's (13) bedroom, it's the smallest bed room... to open the window while he is out - he doesn't like the window open becouse of the bugs! Used to smell of new carpet, now it just smells... with overtones of Rightguard if ya lucky... vinegar sweat from the school sports socks if ya not!.. Wonder if he wants to try my spare bass?

Kolin and Morphine...Codine Linctus... Guiness and Cider... those were the days i can hardly remember...

Lots of 'Basschat Love' for 'earlpilanz' over on the bay-of-dreams... From previouse threads he has done a few custom plates, particularly for non standard P's ala Harley Benton, by return of post using your original as a template, he then adds the new shape to his list for the furure... Also deals direct, worth mentioning Basschat. I find tort to busy... I am colourblind, so probably don't see the complex of colours the same as others. Real nice colour and patern on that body... Brown Pearl or Anodised Brush Gold? I would go for something plain and subtle to complement, and not to detract... Single Ply Cream would be my choice... But I'd be on to em to radius, bevel the top edge...rather than leaving it square (cept the neck pocket) Depends on what's your playing vibe...

on a combo... kick back design... so simple and a great idea. Oh... and that Marshall logo... A Kick Back Marshall... now ya talkin'

Wow!... Wood grain looks stunning! what a transformation! I'll be watching with interest. Just about to start a P Bass build. I'm gonna go Danish oil... Chrome won the hardware toss... Body and all the associated odds n sods ordered... Just got to finalise the neck... Thinking of a J 38mm Nut. Keep us informed of progress... ... and anything but tort...
