  1. It looks like the ground is reliant on the plate covering... and the hot to the jack tip i would suggest came from the middle (wiper) terminal of the nearest pot... (bottom of the orange capacitor)... could be wrong?... Is there any stub of wire left on the terminal, or any of the others. Prolly tightening the jack socket turned it and fractured the wire at the solder join...

  6. Nope... there was no price tag swinging on this one... it was in the covid decontamination rack... I was only in for a mooch after collecting a pickup from @Rumple in the area. Shop owner bloke was friendly and chatty, supposedly had some story in regard to ownership, passed on by the lead singer (not the bass player) of a 70s band possibly Free or some such bloke was saying... pickup has been replaced... told the bloke i was posting the pic on basschat, so he will know which bass.. the weird melty one!
  7. Neck join sorted thanks to a local cabinet maker... Looks good at the heel... I drilled the neck and screwed together... Fitted the 19mm spacing bridge to the marked holes... String run looks OK, E should be better under proper tension... Getting there... Machine heads next...

  13. Have you got any metal machine washers? M3, M4... you could use a couple on the E bass side to get a good fit for the neck, and maybe one to aligning the neck edge with the G side... to sort the screw holes, then replace with veneer... i think there is a proper name for this more open side of the pocket...

  19. Thanks all for the above... and after a look about on 'tube... Looking at the neck and degree of finish, and it being the sticky up and out bit... and dont want to spoil the taper, or catch the fretboard... I think i will Danish Oil the neck, then use the finished neck to re-size the neck pocket. A little of the more of the shorter small G side... i think there is a proper name for this bit... to keep a nice neck n body edge with no step, and more of the longer larger side, and as best at the heel, sanding the body to match the neck, as i can go with a grade or so courser sandpaper, with any damage or error less likely to show. Again, any local expers willing to help, please shout! Gonna have a search on the net for local cabinet makers and sound a couple out. Still waiting on the Bridge, Tuners and Neckplate, Pickup etc... so a slow one... EDIT: Neck Join now sorted thanks to a local Cabinet Maker... Good 'ol Yellow Pages... well Google.
