Please help identifying these flats
PaulThePlug replied to realmasslove's topic in Accessories and Misc
Look like Adagio on the right... I likes Adagio Flats... Great on an Acoustic £13 is the magic offer on the bay -
Early Christmas present to me... Gonna take my eldest and their other half. https://www.twforum.co.uk/events/2021-12-10-ozric-tentacles-electronic-the-forum-1

Acid Jazz Bass... As for a finish... Gonna have a go at a Swirly Hydro Dip with these... Neon Yellow, Neon Green, Neon Orange, Neon Pink!
-
Looks like 2 (Dual Mono) or 3 Core (Stereo) plus screen... Mono Guitar lead as standard and then running the headphone out back in dual mono or stereo.... Cough @KiOgon cough!
-
Glue, dowel, and re-drill. Got any old dowl bits from a flatpack ikea build job? Ruff or splined outside edges will help hold and transfer the glue rather than a too tight fit wiping it off. What size holes ya got? And how thick the pocket? I got a jar of odds and can stick some in the post!.. a squirt of wood glue... Sorted! As the body the holes are clearance less risk than plugging neck holes and them pulling out Use some masking tape in the neck pocket and something in the neck holes or wet ink around the holes to mark for the new ones... small pilots and cocktail stick to check, then open em up a bit at a time.

Which String or All Strings? Start by just a thin bit of waxy card or plastic shim, yogurt pot? just to rest in the bottom of the nut slot... See if that fixes it, if so lots of Youtube stuff about building up the nut with super glue and baking soda. I'd start there as its a free fix to the bass you've got. I love the Ibby SR shape and it is all about the neck... If you dont like the EQ maybe bypass or remove it and go passive with a @KiOgon loom. VVTT... VVT, VBT... coil pickup selecting and or coil switching.

Affordable basses for a guitarist. Harley Benton?
PaulThePlug replied to jimbomcmucka's topic in Bass Guitars
You need the wisdom of @stewblack... I think he owns one of each HB Bass!.. The HB need a little looking at set up wise etc but great vfm and choice of models... I have the HBO 850 Acoustic... and love it! -
I've got a sharpie on order... and a set of hole saws as i'm considering 'Swiss-Cheese-Lightening' (...and that term has been trademark / registered) the body, neck... between the frets without the the blocks that you don't really use...) and some little holes in the headstock... Gonna call it Leerdammer... NOT!

Just got these pre-delivery pics from Luthiers Warehouse... Jazz Body, with a twist!.. (or P Body with a Squash!..) Rear Route, PJ, Slanty Pickups... So a bit Reggie Hamilton, bit Aerodyne, bit Black Top, bit Jazz Special PJ535... Seed was planted when @Duarte posted a pic of a PJ535 in need of a fix in his Vintage P Makeover thread... so it's all his fault! Body to join the Maple 'n Blocks Neck... And Odds 'n Sods from the 'Dark Materials' thread... What do you recon? I was happy with my Rear Route P body so went for a bit more of a 'One-Off'... took a week or so longer than expected, but they are real helpful. So if ya just want a normal-ish body or have 'Special Needs' like me drop Luthiers Warehouse a line! https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/luthiers-warehouse

Luthiers Warehouse just sent me this pre delivery pic... Is something wrong with this P Body? 😉 Oh well... something to bolt that long sticky bit to, and maybe some of those metal bits...

^ likes a bit of Duane... one of my Mums Favs along with the Everly Bros, Buddy Holly and Fats Domino. 40 Miles of Bad Road etc. Duane always has a cracking bit of Sax Solo to go with his Twang.

PaulThePlug replied to PaulThePlug's topic in Accessories and Misc
@Supernaut Got these Flats on a Ibby GSR200, the P Bitz and the Harley B Acoustic... Had em on the Ibby SR600 but that has just gone back to the Roto Solo Bass Presure Wounds, The J Bitz will get Rounds. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FLATWOUND-Bass-Guitar-Strings-Set-45-100-RRP-29-99-Fretless-Jazz-ADAGIO-PRO-/332636490116?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 Great flatwound, regular tension string for an offer price of £13 so gave the rounds a go. -
Howzabout getting some plain style sealed look covers from the bay for £4 the Pair... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-String-Guitar-Parts-Sealed-Pickup-Covers-2x-for-JB-Style-Guitar-Instrument-/255184357305?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 Then it will no longer look odd to your eye

Jazz Bass Strings : Rounds or Flats?
PaulThePlug replied to PaulThePlug's topic in Accessories and Misc
Thanks again all... Adagio Flats on the P-Bitz... Gonna Start with Adagio Rounds on the J-Bitz when it happens. -
Yep... leaving a bit of room... Robbo sounded busy, The twin guitars of Phil n Wurzel flooded the sound a bit live... and Phil on his own was still full
-
I think that looks a nice neat subtle job... and better apperance to the bar in an earlier pic... Do they do a metaflake, or white underneath if you want something more sparkaly? Got a fuller pic rather than close up?
