  1. Now i'm Dazed and Confused? Gone with Rounds..
  2. Do It!... You may need to scale down the Fender-stock to get as much a P or J shape as you can.... Go Custom Logo for a unique look!
  3. I've seen a 51 P Tele headstock done out of HBs... Don't think there is enough wood for a Std P or J... Decals... @taddy does a sterling job... this is a custom one he did for my P Bitsa. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-Water-slide-guitar-decals-for-restoration-projects-please-choose-item-No-/124895054584?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
  4. I'd start with checking the neck relief, action and intonation If the change of guage and/or string brand or material has resulted in more relief, then thats what may be pulling notes sharp up to the 12th... and intonation after.
  5. Another to add to the list... http://www.armstrongpickups.co.uk/prices/ Fingers crossed its a loose wire and not in need of a re-wind so to keep its authenticity and costs down.
  6. Nice Brown Burst... Clear Plate to use the screw holes?..
  7. Subtle... Real nice... Plate looks so right. Real nice almost brown burst... No yellow and only a hint of red. Looks more tobbacco burst... 👍
  8. When you work out the size metric / imperial try 'Dog Point or Cup Point Grub Screw' on ebay... A2 Stainless I got some to replace the rubbish in a cheap bridge... Dog Point are nice and flat for a bridge slot, or Cup Point if plain
  9. I had a Fender Katana Guitar... From memory there wre 2 models a Squier cheaper one with a std strat trem and single humbucker and a more expensive Fender model that i had withTwin Humbuckers, TBX Tone, Locking Trem, Impossible to play sittimg down... Odd thing with it, well two of the odd things... Fender, but fixed neck, and 24 3/4" scale length, so quite Gibson-esq... I feel quite sick seeing what they go for now, knowing what i sold it for 20ish years ago. Same goes for my old original Jap Squier '57 Strat in Salmon Pink with Mapel fretboard 30 odd years ago...
  10. Wonder if i get any more strange stuff delivered to the door this week?
  11. Bit bored today.... Headstock looked a bit plain, so i added some Squigly writing, then sprayed a load of lacquer on the fretboard and headstock, then some Mr Sheen... After lunch I brushed some Danish oil that i found in the shed all over the back of the neck then rubbed on some furniture wax stuff i found in the cupboard under the sink.
  12. Decal on and 4 coats of Laquer on the fretboard n headstock... Danish Oil and a Wax on the back of the neck...
  13. Church of Hawkwind Sofa Time... Headphones set to Stun!
  14. Bit light on luthier type tool, fret beams, crowning stones and the such like. See some one on youtube cutting the laquered 'crowns' from the frets with a scapel... For the sake of my fingers, and likely fretboard divots, the masking worked out well. The thin tape covered most of the fret but allowed a little laquer to seal between fret sides and fingerboard... Gonna try Danish Oil on the back n sides in an hour or so when the laquer is dry... Then will denib with a bit of 0000 wire wool all over tommorow.
  15. Spent some time masking along the frets with some thin tape, and applied a decal, ready for a couple of coats of spray laquer for the fretboard and headstock face tommorow...
  16. Thankyou... No, Normal hands... The headstock will remain as is, i will not be shapeing it to resemble a spoon or some such, and the machine heads will be aligned as perfectly as my steel rule and i can muster, rather than dropped from 18" and screwed on however they land! Spent some time masking along the frets with some thin tape, and applied a decal, ready for a couple of coats of spray laquer for the fretboard and headstock face tommorow... Or... I might go for the unique Matt Black Hammerite Fretboard, 'Good for Metal!' look a certain ebay luthier has recomended to me.. 😉
  17. Me again! Mapel Neck n Fretboard... Was listed as Gloss Finish, but just Matt Tint. What are my options and whats best. Was thinking a couple of coats of spray laquer on the fretboard and over a decal on the headstock face. What do you do about the frets? And see how my leftover Danish Oil goes on the back of the neck. Suppose it depends on how 'soaked in and sealed' the tint made the wood. I don't think the tint finish is resiliant as is... Lighter Fuel didnt touch it, nor 0000 wire wool, but 600 grit started to rub through in a test at the heel, so Strings would reak havoc on the fretboard as-is... Advice please! Ta Muchly...
  18. First Metal and Wires... Now Organic structual forms with some sort of Black Block that i belive are some kind of calibrated markings, with thin metal bars?.. I too am Intrigued...
  19. Big Hands?.. Lost Me... Is that about the Film or Series?
  20. Oh Please God... NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. WARNING BASSCHATERS... Over recent days it seems a cluster of what can only be described as 'Dark Materials' has been forming... Initial analysis shows the majority are of 'Metal' construction and emenate from the Far-East... While other, more complicatedly formed items of particular interest involve 'Wire' and possibly 'Magnets' and are belived to be of UK origin... Possibly as far as Hastings!.. What are these for?.. and should i be unduly concerned? I'll report further if the situation changes.
  22. Over the bit of body, between the cavities... 1/2" - 3/4" wide, so it gets hidden under the pick guard...
  23. @Happypants Thanks, but the cheapy Adagio's turned up yesterday, otherwise i would i would certainly of had your D'Addario's...
